Ok guys, I know I should be concentrating on my other story, Trouble, but I was thinking about the Ponds heart wrenching goodbye, and I just had to write this. So, I will be updating Trouble but this is something I just had to do as a tribute for the Ponds. :') Happy crying. Hope you enjoy guys and, don't forget the Girl Who Waited and the Last centurion!
"Raggedy Man, goodbye."
Those were the last words he would ever hear her say. Ever again. And that hurt. He had lost them, like all the others. The glorious Ponds. The Doctor was sitting in the chair in the Tardis console room, his head in his hands.
What could he have done to save her? To save them? He relived the memories countless times looking for a way out, a solution, anything. River had tried to cheer him up, taking him to all sorts of places, but it hadn't worked, everyplace, everything, everyone reminded him of the Ponds. River had left in defeat claiming she had to go back to prison and stating they would miss her. The Doctor was alone now, all alone. He knew River was trying to help, but every time he looked at her he was reminded that she died too, back at the library and that he had already broken Amy Ponds promise.
He looked up and saw a note on the console. He extended a hand and retrieved the piece of paper. He unfolded it to reveal curly loopy handwriting.
The note said;
Hello Sweetie,
I'm so sorry about Amy and Rory. I know Mother and Father were important to you and I know you were important to them too. Please don't take it out on some unsuspecting passerby or retreat into the darkness. I know you're sad but you have to live with it. Mother and Father wouldn't have wanted you to be sad. Doctor, I won't be here all the time, so I want you find someone to travel with you, to be with you. They'll help you, Doctor.
River
And so the Doctor had. He found someone. And he liked Clara, he really did. But she just wasn't the same as Amelia Pond. Beautiful, glorious Amelia.
He had dropped off Clara too see the sights of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Clara had wanted him to come but he had declined and said that he had things to do.
She had wanted to come with him, but he knew he had to do it alone. He steered the Tardis and when the Tardis stopped, he stepped outside.
When he came back inside, he smiled and recalled a memory, sometime ago.
"Doctor?" Amy had questioned.
"Yes, Pond?" the Doctor had replied all silly and fun.
"Thanks for the flowers, and the note."
"What flowers?" he had asked with a silly smirk on his face.
"You mean, that wasn't you?" said a confused Rory.
"No, of course not, why would I leave you... flowers?"
"We found a basket of flowers on our doorstep, with a note that said 'Miss You' and we thought it might be you. Because, who else would it be?
"Maybe you have a secret admirer" smiled the Doctor
"Don't be silly, Doctor!" laughed Amy "Where are we going now?"
And they had gone spinning off onto a another adventure, laughing merrily.
How he missed that. But he felt somehow, relieved. He had been able to say goodbye, properly. And when he went to pick up Clara he didn't refuse to have some croissants.
Okay silly and wierd, I know, don't mock me. But I felt I just had to do this. The Ponds were so... brilliant!
Till next time
