One Moonlit Night
By Forsaken Tenshi
Sitting on a swing,
Eyes closed,
Swaying ever so gently,
A girl rocks,
Back, forth, back, forth.
The night is calm,
A breeze would stir a little,
Plucking at auburn strands.
The night is aglow,
Be it stars or moon,
Lighting up the park
In its pale, cold luminescence.
A tired head leans
Mournfully on hands
Gently grasping cold, steel chains,
Tilted downwards.
Viridian eyes slowly open,
Rising up to the heavens,
Glittering with unshed tears.
They focus on the cold orb
Hanging effortlessly in the sky.
A sigh can be heard,
Carried along by the wind,
A sign of the deepest sorrow.
Reflection begets pain,
Pain that sears the heart.
Eyes close tightly,
Jerked away from the sight
Of untouchable beauty.
The tears slide down
The pale, fragile cheeks,
Staining the skin in their wake.
A cry is torn from
The young girl's lips,
A desperate, passionate plea,
For the one, that special one
She shelters in her heart
To whisk her away,
Away, from all the pain,
Pain, anguish, tears.
Shivers run rampant
In her frail, thin frame,
And muffled sobs can be heard.
The tears flow down
In small rivulets,
A sure, definite sign
Of a lost love,
Of a broken heart.
The tears drop less and less,
And the body shudders no more
With a final sniffle
And a small sigh,
The girl straightens up.
Moist, dewy eyes gaze heavenward,
At the cold unforgiving moon,
And a smile spreads across the quivering lips.
