She'd been in long term relationships before. Sure they hadn't necessarily been successful long term relationships, Dennis for example was not a success story. However when she'd broken up with Dennis she hadn't been heartbroken in the way she's heartbroken now. Breaking hadn't made her want to mope around for days or to consume her body weight in cheese. Breaking up with Jack Donaghy did have that effect on her though. She was a miserable, mopey, cheese eating machine.
She supposes that its most probably because with Jack she was truly in love. Jack had been her best friend and her lover, something she'd never had before. This combination of loss totally sucks she realises, especially as she still has to see him each day at work, and he doesn't seem half as upset as she is. In fact he seems pretty ok with it. She supposes that it's because he was the one that broke up with her. He had the luxury of knowing that they were going to break up whereas she hadn't seen it come at all, she'd thought everything was fine.
So now, she's single again and feeling like her hearts been shattered into a million pieces. The feeling of devastation epitomises the reason why she'd never let herself fall in love with anyone before. Point is, she looks as crap as she feels, whereas he still looks as awesome and handsome as he always had. This doesn't seem fair at all. He'd been the one who had convinced her to go out on a date with him, she'd been reluctant. He'd convinced her that 'Liz' and 'Jack' would be better as 'Liz and Jack', because then they'd be winners together. But they weren't winners, they were losers, or rather she was a loser. Because seriously, his hair still looked great and hers had scraps of lettuce stuck in it. He really didn't seem like he'd lost much at all.
And that was the worst.
