Disclaimer: Well, last I checked, I 'm not Shigeru Miyamoto or any of the other people at Nintendo, so I don't own the rights to the brilliance that is the Legend of Zelda series. Their characters and such are their own. I'm just a loyal fan same as the rest of you. Hope you all enjoy! :D
Prologue:
The princess once told me that it had been secretly passed down through the generations within the royal family of Hyrule, kept safe from those who would exploit its power to cause others harm. Of its origin, she mentioned not, nor did I ask for it, but still... Whenever I held it to my lips and played, I felt as though there was something nostalgic about it. I'd attributed that nostalgia to bygone days of Saria playing hers while I and the other Kokiri gathered around her in awe, but though the memories brought to me a similar bittersweet feeling, what I felt when I played the Ocarina of Time was something much different. There was a sense of loss that was deeper than any I'd ever known and a sense of peace and strength despite that loss. I could only begin to speculate as to the reason of its creation even as I sit upon the tree trunk where Saria once was at the entrance of the Forest Temple continuing to play where she'd left off as the world around me forgot my name. Maybe that feeling will be enough to disappate my all my fears and doubts as I reach out across time to cling to it.
-Link, The Hero of Time, shortly before becoming the Hero's Shade
Author's note: I almost added to the end of the last sentence "my link to the past", but then I thought that maybe people would think that I was going to be writing about the Link from that game, so I changed my mind. As for the prologue, in general, the Link from Ocarina of Time will not be the main character. For those that believed that he would be and for those that dislike how short this is, I apologize. This is just merely the prologue. I look forward to hearing what you all think.
