"Thank God, there's still mountain dew here!" I said pushing as many as I could into my duffle bag. "Dahlia, got anything?" She came around the corner with Doritos in her hands, "Doritos?" I smirked, "Lets get some canned food and split, they'll find us soon." Dahlia nodded and followed me to the isle for canned junk.

"Crystal." I turned around, "Yea?" Dahlia kneeled down and helped put another can in my bag. "Are we the only ones left?" I stopped, "I don't know, there has to be more people out there like us." I zipped the bag up and slung it over my shoulder. "We got each other, that's all we've really needed anyway right?" Dahlia nodded.

Then I heard it, the nasty gargling slamming of the undead. We've avoided them for a couple weeks now, not staying anywhere for too long, making our way to the interstate to keep moving. Dahlia and I have been best friends since high school, the infection came through our school, thinking it was just the common cold. But they were wrong.

"Psst." I heard behind me, and then a slip of paper fell over my head. I looked to see Dahlia giggling, I opened the piece of paper, it read, "This teacher makes me want to go slit my wrists. LOL." I shook my head and wrote back, "Its turning me into a zombie.J" I passed the note back as quickly as possible. "Crystal and Dahila." I knew it was trouble from the sound in our teachers voice. "You will not pass notes in my class, both of you go to the office." I looked back and Dahlia shrugged my shoulders.

We went and sat in the office, "We're here again, I don't think he likes us at all." Dahlia nodded, "Hey did you hear about all those kids sick today from a cold? One like scratched one and it spread fast. I don't think it's the cold." I had a puzzled look on my face, then something ran through here fast and jumped on a teachers back walking by. I put my arm in front of Dahlia on instinct, after all these years she's became more like my little sister.

"What the." Dahlia said, and the person started taking chunks out of the teacher. "Okay we talked about the apocalypse and shit before, I think its actually happening!" I said, grabbed Dahlias hand and ran. We couldn't go home, it already spread more than just our school by then, we knew everyone would have it.

"Shit!" I grabbed Dahlia and took off. We went to the back of the store and the doors back there were locked, we were trapped. I pushed Dahlia into a small storage room and locked the door. "Oh God, Oh God." Dahlia repeated over and over, I was freaking out too, we stayed too long here. I threw my bag down, I was so mad at myself for letting this happen, she depended on me, I failed. A couple days went on, eating the Doritos and Mountain dew we grabbed. The zombies broke through the main doors and had begun beating on ours.

The next thing I heard was gun shots, Dahlia raised up off my lap from a nap, "Gun shot?" I nodded, there was plenty more after that, some yelling and punches. There was knocking at the door, "Hello?" It sounded like a girls voice, "We're in here!" I spoke and unlocked the door, it swung open.
