Chapter 1: A Ribbon and a Mystery~

~Allen's POV~

I hear a devastating crash. An Akuma. I rush to the scene to spot the Akuma targeting a girl of about 16. "Hey, over here!" The girl continued stumbling down the dusty hall with only a slight glance backwards and a dim flash of pink. I made a move from behind the stacks of crates but noisily knocked one over in the process due to the very dim light that wasn't helping at all. The Akuma noticed and turned its bulky face towards me. Crap. So much for a sneak attack to cause less damage! My anti-Akuma weapon transforms in to a gun as the Akuma opens fire. I wasn't quick enough. It manages to shoot me in the shoulder and make a run for it.

Where is it headed? Why is it after that girl instead of me? I'm the one holding two innocence pieces! Is it under direct orders of the Earl to kill her?

I rush across the splintered wood floor noticing, in an abandoned little corner, an amethyst ribbon of silk incrusted with gold along the length of the fabric making it illuminate the darkness of the night. "Hmm," I mumble thoughtfully, "This must be her hair band. What do you think Timcanpy? Can you hold onto this for a while?"

Timcanpy wrapped the delicate ribbon halfway around his tail and let the rest dangle elegantly into the open air. "Alright then, let's go!"

As I followed the sound of Akuma gunfire, I saw the light pink haired girls' big, round; crystal blue eyes that would make any man melt hidden in a separate little room carefully placed in the corner. Those orbs of hers made the purest holy water pale in comparison as they caught each and every spectacle of light there was in that dim space, making them shine brighter than normal. I was captivated by her looks as I froze in place.

The clothing upon her was severely tattered and worn, but not just because of the Akuma that was following her. The iridescence of her light-pink colored hair complemented her pale and pain-stricken face as if she were calling out for help in her mind.

Why does she look like she in pain? Maybe it has to do with the fact that she is holding her arm in a very awkward manor. Her hair was slightly windblown as strands clung to her forehead and cheeks with the perspiration from running away. Her hair had gentle waves and small curls that looked wild, possibly from her lost hair ribbon that I found in the rubble back there.

I was so transfixed on her that I didn't realize that I was creeping her out, so in realization of this I flashed her a smile that said 'it's okay' or at least I thought I did because she stumbled towards me warily. She hobbled weakly from the shadows, and lay there motionless as she reached me. "Hey! Are you okay?!" I shake the girl, trying to wake her up. It's no use. She is completely unconscious. What do I do now? I can't get her involved in the cross fire.

I inspected her injuries to find that she had an Akuma bullet wound on the left arm she was clinging to. The poison looked as if it was almost finished consuming her body and was already turning a sickly shade of gray. I had to get her to the order before it's too late!

I slowly took in the surroundings of the room to find a safe place to hide her. I had to get that Akuma before more people are killed.

There are lots of crates in this storage room so why don't I use that to my advantage? I find a lengthy rectangular box that will easily keep the girl safe and slightly comfortable. As I placed her carefully into the wooden box, she shifted in her sleep and accidentally slapped me in the face as if to say 'what in the name of Lupus are you doing?' I laughed at the thought. Fine. Have it your way. I'll just put packing paper under your head as a pillow.

My head throbbed as I remembered the searing pain striking my shoulder from the earlier encounter with that blasted Akuma. My cursed hand transformed as I gained upon the demon. My claws reached out and sliced it to pieces and a second later, it blew up. My shoulder wound opened back up and it began to bleed terribly. Blood began to seep through my exorcist uniform. This trip back to the Order is going to be a tough one.

With her limp body slung over my other shoulder, I made it back to the Black Order in one piece. It wasn't that long a trip but it sure did feel like it! I wonder if the girl is still alive.

"Komui… I need help; I mean she needs help… Komui!" I manage to shout even though the travel had sucked the life out of me. My shoulder's pain had receded until there was nothing. Did my arm just go numb from the pain? Whatever, my first priority is to see that this girl is safe.

Komui came running as I continued to shout desperately. His hair gave away the fact that he had been sleeping on his desk the entire time. Komui understands the situation completely and comes to my aid. He rushes to help the frail teenager in my ever weakening arms.

"Her injuries will be fine but it wasn't as severe as was described and there was not even the slightest trace of Akuma's poison in the wound or anywhere else." The nurse stated in an uncaring tone as she began to put up her supplies. After a while you get used to her not caring, but this time it agitated me. My mind was reeling when Komui snapped me back to the present and said, "Allen… Are you sure this girl was shot by an Akuma? If there wasn't any poisoning, she could've gotten that gash from anywhere."

After a long pause, he continues as if I was a child, "Allen, if she turns out to be just another person that was running away from an Akuma and hurt herself in the process, we can't have random people spilling about the H.Q. of the Black Order. I know you were trying to help, but we can't bring every person attacked by an Akuma into this place. I might have to forcibly make her a finder just to keep something like that from happening."

I was already annoyed so much that I completely forgot that my shoulder was numb as I slapped my hand onto Komui's arm really hard and said as he winced in pain, "Komui-san, I saw the poison spread throughout her body and she looked really pale and stressed with the pain. More importantly, you sent me on a double mission so I had two innocence pieces, but that level one Akuma went after her instead of me! Don't you think something is wrong with that? That Akuma barely paid much attention to me except when I got shot in the shoulder! That must mean the Millennium Earl must want to either hush her because of a secret or she is an accommodator that the Earl found and was trying to eliminate. Either way, she is with us for the time being so how about we wait and see what happens?"

"Alright Allen, but why are you so insistent upon keeping her here?" Just then, the mysterious and unknown girl shifts in her sleep and both of us turn towards her.

I marvel at her pale white skin. The wide gash was ever carefully placed in a complex looking bandage and looked just about impossible to remove. A few moments had passed and Komui was obviously noticing that he wasn't going to get an answer when a knock at the door snapped me out of the trance.

"Hey! It's Lenalee. Can I come in?" Silence, then all of a sudden, Komui rushes towards the door in crazed excitement. "Oh my dearest Lenalee, have you come to embrace your big brother in hugs?" Komui practically leaps onto the door. I have pity for that door. (Sweat drop)

Lenalee is fighting off Komui when the pink haired girl silently stirs in the small white hospital bed. "Sorry if my brother caused you any trouble." Lenalee says staring past me. I turn in shock to see that the girl that he had rescued was sitting up and giggling slightly. A deep blush paints my cheeks pink as I get caught in her eyes again.

She gave a wide grin to me. Those round crystals of the lightest cerulean blue observed her surroundings whilst removing that severely complicated knot that held the bandage in place with practiced ease and agility.

"I see you've taken medical study!" Lenalee said in cheerful excitement. "Yep! I was a star student in my class because of my motive to help people who don't heal as fast as I do. Actually it increased my progress so much that I was finished with my studies when I was just 13! I had trained to do medical things since I was a small child since my father was a doctor and my mother always pushed me to follow in my father's footsteps."

Wait, she can heal faster than other people?

Lenalee and I exchanged a quick glance before focusing on the girl again. I took a quick glance at her newly unwrapped wound and saw that there was barely anything left except a small and insignificant scratch. "Hi, I'm Arisa! What's yours?" she asked sweetly with a bright smile to match. My heart started to race and I could've sworn my heartbeat was so loud that everyone could hear it. I swallowed my embarrassment to choke out a faint, "Allen" The expression 'Cat got your tongue?' was completely appropriate for that situation. My ears were getting hotter by the second. Thankfully, Lenalee broke the silence that followed with an equally sweet, "My names' Lenalee! How about we get you out of those clothes and into something better?" "Sure," was Arisa's reply as she enthusiastically jumped off the small white hospital bed. Lenalee headed to the door with Arisa trailing behind. As the door shuts I see that Komui has slipped inside. He looks at me with a questioning look. I realize that he is still waiting for the answer to his question.

Finally I answer with, "I just think there is something special about her. That's all."

~Arisa's POV~

"Look Arisa, would you like this shirt?" I hear Lenalee's voice drone on and on in the back of my mind. Oh my gosh! This girl is getting really annoying. Will she just make up her mind already? It's been hours and it is the middle of the night already! Will she just go to sleep? Oh please, make it stop!

My power is completely drained and I seriously need some sleep. Allen may not have noticed but when we were traveling the short distance back, I healed his wounded shoulder and all of his numerous scratches. Doing that after I spent forever healing the bruises and cuts of the homeless children that took refuge in that crusty old storage building as a challenge to my healing powers, really took the life out of me. Healing those children took everything I had so I couldn't do as normal and kill the Akuma that were after me. The only reason I was wearing those tattered clothes was to see if a disguise would work. Obviously, it didn't. By the time I knew that it was coming, I was too weak. I ran away thinking that the Akuma would follow the exorcist, and apparently I was wrong on that subject too.

Just like every other time I stay with someone, they always kick me out when I tell them that I heal faster than other people. I saw the looks on what was his name again? Oh yea, Allen and Lenalee's faces when I told them. I have just accepted the fact that they'll kick me out anyway so I don't really have to get my hopes up.

I should make a run for it when I get some decent clothes to spare myself the pain of being kicked out for the hundredth time. If this goof-ball with the dark pig-tails would just make up her crazy mind already! I finally get up the nerve to say, "I think I need to put something on now… If you don't mind", in the sweetest voice I could muster at the moment and another plastic smile. Lenalee hands me a pink floral night gown and some light blue shorts. "You're getting ready for bed right? You can wear umm…"Lenalee stares at the multiple colored outfits carefully placed on her bed, "This one!" She points to a random outfit that I didn't care about at the moment.

I escape to her bathroom and slam the door behind me, desperately trying to escape her talk of all the cutest boys in the order, especially Allen. She just doesn't quit with him! It makes me sick. Dang it! I can't escape in these clothes. I think furiously before reluctantly pulling the current clothing off and throwing it in the black trashcan near the sink.

I slip the light pink night gown over my head realizing that the color is exactly the same as my hair. As I pull up my blue shorts that slightly match my eye color, I hear a loud knock at Lenalee's door. I place my ear carefully on the door and listen. "Lenalee," said an unfamiliar voice, "Komui wishes to see you in his office." Silence. Then, "Alright then. Arisa," she called to me, "You can just stay in here. I have to go. You can go to sleep if you want too." With that she left, the door clicking behind her.

When I was sure she had gone, I slowly came out of the bathroom. I walked over to Lenalee's large mirror and observed myself. My feet were a puffy red and were raw from walking on that crusty old flooring in that stupid storage building. "Why couldn't the children have picked a better hiding place?"

I instantly regretted saying that. The children took what they could and didn't complain like what I was doing right now. There feet were hurt more than mine before I healed all five of them. That took some serious will power to live like that. After all, my mission is to help as many people as possible in the short period of time I have left in this twisted place that I am cursed to live upon. After all, if I don't atone for my so called betrayal, my efforts will have been a waste.

"I guess I can go exploring now, but my hair is a mess. Where did I put my ribbon? Wait a minute, my hair fell down when I was running from the Akuma! Now I really have to escape this place now. What will happen if someone picks it up! I don't want another fatality! Damn that blood bonded ribbon. All it does is drain my power as an extra power source for healing other people but when people touch it without my acknowledgement they will turn into an Akuma! What do I do? I have to find a way out of here! And quick! How could I be so stupid?

"Oh please, let it be safe and out of the way!" I mutter quietly to myself as I slink through the shadows of the never ending hallways trying to find the Exit to this weird building. The cold floor sent shivers up my spine radiating from my feet. Maybe I should have asked for shoes too. I was looking for Allen's room. He, of all people, should have seen that ribbon somewhere in that storage building that I was in. That ribbon has the capability to attract anyone and anything to it. Sometimes I swear that ribbon is evil!

Coming around the corner, I saw a slightly open door that was full of light on the inside. Who could be up this late at night? I wanted to find out so I soundlessly approached the door and placed my face in between the crack carefully.

To my surprise, I saw Allen and another man training separately. Allen's silvery-white hair covered his face as he did pushups on his index finger and counted loudly into the thousands. That was on the left side of the room; on the right side of the room was this incredibly attractive and handsome dark violet haired man about the same age as me, maybe a little older. He was definitely well toned for his age, and I marveled at his constant and undying strength with every step he took.

I was frozen stiff as I watched in awe at the way his movements were so controlled and dignified.

His wooden training sword sliced the air due to its master's strength. I took the time to look at other aspects of his training like the fact that he was perfectly topless and had on some complementing baggy black training pants. The long dark locks of violet swished this way and that with each enchanting blow he made to his imaginary enemy. Another wave of fascination and wonder crashed over me and filled my eyes only with him.

My thoughts of finding the ribbon melt into big puddles with each step of prowess he made.

The mans' face was complemented by those glowing onyx eyes of his that seemed to entrap me in and endless abyss and glittered slightly of cold hearted anger. His face held an emotionless façade that married with the oozing dark aura around him.

"If he would take me under his wing… Maybe I could get to know this person?" I say wistfully. He of all people might not agree with everyone else that I am the most adorable thing that has ever walked on the face of the earth.

My adoring eyes wandered back to his bare chest as I reveled at how strong he was.

After an entire five minutes of embarrassingly enjoyable stares, a little weird looking golden orb-thingy flew strait into my face, it's plume of a tail swishing in surprise. My eye catches the faintest wisp of a deep satin purple and gold.

My ribbon! Whatever this creature is, it isn't capable of turning into an Akuma. Thank goodness it didn't get touched by someone!

If I could just snatch it off of that thing's tail and be done with it. My pale hands reached up to get it but I was only teased by it grazing my fingertips. Frustrated from my lack of energy and patience, I lunged at the little creature and caught it in my fist. I shook the thing in my hand with crazed triumph and tugged at the fabric around its slender tail. The silk warmed at my touch as it loosened its grip and was released. It slithered up my arm and quickly (as if not quick enough) tied itself into a bow firmly on my upper left arm near my shoulder. I didn't realize how much I had missed that familiar squeeze that somehow always gave me comfort.

The golden rimming began to glow faintly as it drew upon my already dwindling power. My head began to spin as I forced myself to make it back to Lenalee's room before she got back.

I closed the door to Lenalee's room quietly. My feet barely helped in my journey back to her bed as I collapsed into the pillows and sheets. The ribbon began to acquire a beaming glow, signaling that it had taken in enough energy and was fully loaded. I looked at the ribbon in spite. "Tch. Had your fill of my power have you?" I unraveled the bow by pulling on one of the trailing strands. "Thanks to your automatic energy zapping, I can't remove myself from this insane place. Oh well! I'll try again tomorrow." My eyelids felt heavy as I unwillingly passed out from exhaustion.

Little did I know that I was completely and utterly wrong.

Bimminy: How'd ya like that!

Arisa: Ehh! It was alright.

Bimminy: What do you mean 'Alright'?

Arisa: Whatever. (Turns away)
