Title: No More Tears
Fandom: Code Geass
Pairing: Lelouch X Kallen
Rating: G
Warnings: Pure sappy cheese. Spoilers up until the ending.
The day after Lelouch Vi Britannia died, Kozuki Kallen was convinced of one thing- She would never cry for him again.
She wept out of confusion when he told her to live on, and she would never forget the broken-hearted tears that streamed down her face when she said her final goodbyes and he left her without a single word. He had torn out her heart and dragged it with him to his deathbed.
Sure she would think of him. It would be too difficult not to. His photos were everywhere around the academy, the news, even that dark corner of her bedroom that Kallen always pretended didn't exist. The world was determined to remember him. So yes, she would remember him- but she wouldn't cry for him.
So how the envelope she was holding in her shaking hands had arrived in her bedroom, she was not entirely sure. Oddly enough that was not the first thing she thought about when she had spied it the moment she entered. All that she could think about at that moment was the name- her name. "Kozuki Kallen" spelled out neatly in flowing black script.
His flowing black script. Impossible.
He was gone. He was gone long before the sword had even pierced his heart.
Nonetheless, the script on the inside was the same- heartbreakingly beautiful. Not a stroke was out of place and every line carefully a strategically planned. Her heart wrenched as she made sense of what the lines were saying.
Kallen,
I told you to live on because I cared. I did not answer your question then because I needed you to hate me. I knew my purpose was to die for the sake of the world. I had committed too many wrongs to too many people to be allowed to live- especially with you. It wouldn't have been fair to you either. I hated breaking your heart, Kallen, but I would have hated leaving you alone even more. I hope someday you can forgive me for it.
What were you to me? You were never a pawn. You were always my queen.
I love you, Kallen. Please live on.
-Lelouch.
In one single fluid motion, she folded the letter back up and brought both hands to her lightly quivering lips.
No, Kozuki Kallen would never cry for Lelouch Vi Britannia again. This she had promised herself.
But maybe she could shed tears for Lelouch Lamperouge just one more time.
And that's the drabble! I honestly like the open-ness of the Code Geass Finale. I choose to believe that he actually died because the finale is just more emotionally powerful that way. Not everything has to end happy to end well.
Please keep criticism to the actual drabble and not my choice of ending or my choice of pairing. I don't really care if you hate Lelouch X Kallen, and I really don't want to get into debates about whether Lelouch actually lives or dies.
Thanks for reading!
