The best day.
It had been one hell of a day and all Beth Green wanted to do was pull on a pair of pyjama bottoms, her tight white vest top and baggy hooddie but no DS Max Carter had other ideas.
"Beth. We need to talk". She spun around really not having the energy for the fight.
"What? Do you know what I have a hell of a day and all I want to do is crawl into bed". Beth turned to walk away. Max grabbed her arm.
"I want to talk about it now". Max practically dragged her to the chair at his desk. "I want to know exactly what is was you thought you were doing today". Beth sighed.
"I don't know Max, I really don't". Beth looked up into his eyes hoping to see something there but there was nothing they were cold. Dead.
"Well you better start knowing, you are going to have to figure it out Beth because if not i'll have your job for this". At this point Max was stood over her. Despite himself he was shouting at her.
"Then have it Max". She threw her badge at him and grabbed her bag pushing past him. "You can hate me all you want Max but I have to live with it".
"Ph don't give me that crap Beth, it doesn't work with me". Max looked her up and down with a look of pure disgust. Beth could almost feel her heart breaking.
"Goodbye Max".
It was ten pm before Max actually felt some kind of remorse or his actions. Max had no idea what this feeling was it was like he had to something he knew something wasn't right.
"Will call Beth". Will looked up at his senior officer.
"Why?" Sally got out her phone looking alarmed.
"I don't know something isn't right". Max ran his hand through his red/brown hair.
"Maybe that could be what you said to her". Millie shot back in pure frustration.
"It has what to do with you?". Max wasn't in the mood for her childish games.
"i think you'll find i'm her friend and what you said was totally out of order".
"Sorry but what authority do you have again".. Sally hastily interrupted.
"She isn't answering". The look of worry was mirrored amongst all the officers surrounding the table.
"We should get round there. Beth always answers". Nate was already walking out of the door as he was speaking.
They arrived at Beth's within in minutes. Will hammered on the door.
"Beth come on open the
door". Nate banged again.
"Beth I swear to god i'll break the
door if I have to". Nate however was to late Max had already but
his boot to the door.
"Nicely done". Smithy in a moment of
haste patted him on the back.
"Let's just find Beth". Sally clearly didn't share the same enthusiasm.
"Beth. BETH". Nate swore everyone in the building probably heard Max.
"Will she's in here". Nate shouted from the bedroom.
"OH my god Beth wake up". Sally looked from Max to Beth knowing it was too late, she was gone.
"Can't we do something call an ambulance". Millie was crying.
"There isn't anything they could do" Nate put an arm around her and she buried her head in his chest. Max silently walked over into the spotlight falling from the window. Taking her hand slightly. Max could of sworn he saw her eyelids flutter but knowing he was imagining things. All of a sudden the silence was broken by the shattering sound of Beth's mobile ringing.
"Will I swear to god get lost". Beth shouted into the handset, making everyone jump.
Beth slammed her head back down in frustration. Max didn't know what to do other than kiss her.
