Belarus stared down that familiar paved, snow trodden road which had led to her dear brother's home. It was around that time when she would visit her dear brother, pretending to be ignorant of his protest and refusals of marriage. She was willing to continue and continue. No matter how hard it was on her health, her state of mind. No matter what she did, no one ever seemed to like her. She wondered if it was what she wore, how she acted, her hair, how she looked. She tried so many changes in the past but they never worked. So what made her think what she was setting out to do now would work? Quite possibly the fact that being tenacious was her game. And she played it as hard as she could.

When she stared down that road, she was hesitant. All these years of persistence was being persistently draining on her well being. She'd come home, go to bed with blood shot eyes and late night insomnia that was incurable with anything except the one cure she's always wanted, to be loved. She ignored it all until now. Now she couldn't ignore it no longer. She decided it was time to go down a different road. She knew this would come someday. She wished it wouldn't, but it did. Belarus took that different turn just to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe, she thought, this road would make me a new woman. She walked down it, wary of it's end, anticipating it's result.

The sun shone on her like no other in Russia. It was actually there. The streets were bright with atmosphere, art, food, smiles. Waves and hellos and hugs and kisses surrounded her. She felt slightly mocked, slightly curious. The new smells weren't dead, the sight wasn't dead, what she heard wasn't dead. Her eyes didn't know what to focus on. But they did focus on him, the outlook of everything, the middle of her world, right now. And when he spotted her, she spotted him and she was pouring with emotions unexplainable.

"Buona matina!"

Her lips twitched upward in an unnoticeable smile.

I have fallen into the trap that is BelarusxItaly. Shoot Me.
