Name Unknown

She doesn't think of herself as Sharon anymore. She doesn't know who she is. Nothing has changed – well, nothing except the world coming to an end. Yet, she has the disconcerting feeling that nothing she ever knew was the truth, as if the world that ended never really existed for her. Outwardly, she carries on as she ever did, but her life feels like a mask she hides behind.

It's an odd feeling, thinking of yourself as a stranger, not knowing your own name. She desperately doesn't want anyone else to know. She fears they will view her as a fraud, an interloper, an intruder in their midst, at a time when only the sense of loyalty to those still living is keeping them from drowning in their grief. She knows she has done well at keeping these feelings to herself. Only a few minor slips have endangered her secret, but then everyone acts a bit out of character at times.

Under such stress and strain, everyone betrays sides of their personality they normally wouldn't reveal. She is no different, or at least she does not appear to be. When people began to notice that the endless sleepless nights and days of the Cylon pursuit did not wear on her as they did the others, she snapped. Ironically, snapping at them made her seem to be as tired and short-fused as everyone else.

She feels at greatest risk when she is with Galen, but consoles herself with the idea that love is blind. He will be the last to suspect her. She confessed to him that she woke up in a strange place with no idea of how she got there; she told him about the detonators, and about the explosives on her ship. Even then, when any sane person would question her involvement, he never doubted her for a moment.

She knows her behavior to him is not what it was. Yet, there are times he makes her feel normal. He says her name as though he means it. She who was Sharon can believe that she is again when the name escapes his lips. Now, the XO has ordered her to end their relationship. Colonel Tigh can go straight to hell. She needs Galen Tyrol.

When he makes love to her, she feels his warmth and passion, and she is able to return it. When she is with him, she feels whole and… real. She is overwhelmed with relief; it is a gift, knowing who she is again. She needs this.

Then, there is that moment… as orgasm overtakes her, so does intense hatred. Her body tenses against the violent urge to do him harm, to do everyone harm. She doesn't know why this is happening, but she fears in that one completely unguarded moment, the creature she really is tries to emerge. As quickly as the rush of emotion comes, it subsides. She collapses against him, curls around him to protect him from herself. She doesn't know her name.
