Chapter 1:
All was quiet in the dry, thick air outside. The only sound on the rooftop was a slight breeze that blew about with a soft, almost delightful grace. The sun was setting an overcast orange glow across the sky that seemed to have been touched by the hand of God himself. Well, it had been touched by God as a matter of fact. He painted this image every day to remind the people of Earth that they should have faith in him. Some did, in fact, believe in him. Others didn't. That simple fact caused what could have been the end of mankind. To the relief of the world, it didn't.
The savior of mankind was non other than the great leader of the Archangels, Michael. Michael went against God's request to end the sins of man and instead, fought for their survival. This ended up pitting another great Archangel against Michael himself, Gabriel. Gabriel was one of the most loyal followers of God and even the raw evilness of ending the human race didn't stop him from following his father's orders. Michael tried to explain that it was all a test, and that the Father's orders were not meant to be followed.. He wanted Gabriel to help him save The Child. Gabriel did in fact try to see his way of thinking, but instead went with the word of God.
That was a mistake on Gabriel's part. God didn't want mankind to end, but knew that the humans needed a reality check. That's why he sent his Archangels to eliminate every human. He knew Michael would not follow this order as he was very wise, but also hoped that Gabriel would follow Michael. Gabriel remained too loyal to his father's words. The great leader of the Archangels finally got through to him at the final battle between them. Gabriel understood with a sickly feeling that Michael had it all right. Then he said something he'll never forget. He told Gabriel he had failed God. That statement will forever be locked in his subconscious. It still haunted his mind to this day. The thought of failing God was a hard pill to swallow.
Now, as the glowing sun grew fainter, Gabriel sat alone on a rooftop of a rather large building in the city of Phoenix, Arizona. He contemplated Michaels words that were sent his way almost two years ago. He still couldn't seem to find peace with himself after all this time. Gabriel had received full forgiveness for his actions from both Michael and God himself, but still felt he owed them. The strong, mace-carrying Archangel watched the sun set and made a decision. He was to redeem himself for his near-evil acts. Gabriel wanted to show true valor.
Little did Gabriel know, it would be very easy to find such an opportunity of redemption.
