Squeaking
Bakura clenched his hand into a tight fist as an annoying squeaking noise filled the small apartment. A week or so before, the bathroom door started screeching horribly when moved, and the noise got under Bakura's skin like nothing else. He had tried his best to ignore it for the first while, but since it showed no signs of stopping and there was no other bathroom in the apartment, his limited patience soon crumbled.
The squeaking had to be stopped, one way or another.
"The bathroom door is squeaking."
Ryou sighed. "Yeah, I know. It's pretty annoying, but I don't know how to fix it, so we'll just have to live with it."
"No, Ryou." Bakura snarled, taking a menacing step towards the boy. "You live with problems. I eliminate them. And I will not hear that irritating noise one more time or I will snap!" Bakura yelled in a voice that would typically intimidate anyone under 3000. This time, however, Ryou simply raised an eyebrow.
"I was under the impression you snapped several millennia ago…"
At the flat glare he received, Ryou decided it was best to switch the subject back.
"Well, you're welcome to try and fix it, or teach me to if you don't want to, but…"
"No, I don't know how to stop the door from squeaking. You'll just have to stop using it."
"…I can't exactly stop using the restroom, yami."
"I know that. But stop moving the door!"
"Well, I'd have to get in there, and I can't exactly leave it open…"
"I know that too! Why don't you just… dig a tunnel."
"A tunnel?"
"Yes. Into the bathroom."
Ryou raised an eyebrow. "You suggest I dig a hole in the floor of my house, to make a tunnel into the bathroom, simply so I don't have to move the door to keep the squeaking from annoying you?"
Bakura nodded. It sounded quite reasonable to him.
"…No, yami." Ryou stated simply, and turned and walked off.
Bakura growled at his hikari's retreating back. Well, he had warned Ryou. Something had to be done about the squeaking, and if Ryou refused to cooperate, Bakura would have to take matters into his own hands.
Bakura casually picked up a book from the side table and pretended to skim through it. He had taken care of the problem while Ryou was at school, but the boy would come home soon and frankly, Bakura was looking forwards to what his reaction would be.
Sure enough, a few minutes later Bakura heard a pattering of feet from the hall, and moments later the door opened and Ryou walked in.
"Oh, hi yami!" Ryou grinned, waving to the spirit before he turned to go to his bedroom. Bakura set down the book and leaned out of his chair slightly to try and glance down the hall. Ryou would have to walk past the bathroom to get to his bedroom…
Suddenly, the quick tap of Ryou's feet stopped, and all was silent.
Bakura smirked. It seems Ryou had discovered his handiwork.
He folded his arms over his chest and Ryou ran stuttering into the living room.
"I… you… it…" Ryou stammered, obviously bewildered.
"Yes, hikari?" Bakura asked in amusement. Ryou stared at him in exasperation, then squealed,
"You sent the bathroom door to the shadow realm?"
Author's notes: XD Yes, I know I should work on other things, but I was inspired, so I went with it. Hope you enjoyed~
