Anko winced as she traced the fresh tattoo on her arm with her finger, wondering how she'd become an ANBU in the first place. She sighed as she adjusted the gray cover, wishing she didn't have to wear the uncomfortable excuse for body armor.

"Miss Mitarashi. Your first mission on the ANBU corps will be a scan of the forests surrounding the Konohagakure village wall. We'll pair you with a more experienced ANBU. Mister Hatake, please come in." Tsunade beckoned.

"Kakashi? I thought you quit the ANBU corps. Why'd you come back?" Anko asked, amazed to see the ex-ANBU standing before her.

"I'm only reinstated to teach you what you're doing then I'm gone again." He responded, almost annoyed.

Anko sighed as she and Kakashi began to head for the door.

"Oh! Anko?" Tsunade shouted before the two had left, "Would it kill you to wear the undershirt? You wore one with your fishnet!"

Anko chuckled. "Do you have any idea how uncomfortable that undershirt is? Tsunade-sama, you'd do it, too if you were an ANBU."

Kakashi quickly shut the door behind them. "Alright… let's get this over with. The sooner I can get back to my books, the better."

Anko chuckled as the two of them headed for the main gate. She could tell this was going to be a long mission.

A few moments later, the two shinobi were halfway through the forest, going from tree to tree when a shuriken went flying through the trees, disorienting Anko enough to make her come crashing down onto the hard ground beneath her.

"What was that?" She snapped.

Kakashi laughed as one of his clones came out from its hiding place before evaporating into a fine mist that was gone just as quickly as it had come.

"That was a test…and you failed." He answered with enough smugness in his voice that made Anko sure he was smiling under the ceramic cat mask.

She tackled him to the ground, making the mask fall of and land beside them.

"Hey, no fair." She muttered.

Kakashi laughed as he wrapped his arms around Anko's waist. He had never told anyone, but he'd always liked Anko. His hands slid from her waist to her hips as her face neared his.

"What are we doing?" She asked quietly as her eyes slid shut.

"I don't know…but I like it." He answered as he followed her lead and shut his eyes.

Her lips lightly brushed up against his mask before locking with his lips. She didn't care that there was something in the way of actually kissing him, but it was the best she could have ever wished for.

When the kiss was broken, Kakashi was the first to speak.

"We should finish the mission." He muttered, standing up.

Anko nodded as she followed after him.

As they once again neared the main gate, Anko stopped.

"In case this never happens again, I just have to say this. I love you, Kakashi." She admitted before vanishing.

Kakashi smiled. He'd have to find her later. He had some dates to set up.
