Arthor note: hey there if you have been reading What Could have Happened, i'm srry for the slow updating. i'm having a kind of a readers block and thought of something totaly different that resuled in this story. read and review and i hope you enjoy.

Disclaimer: i do not own kingdom hearts just the idea.

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.

Sora was walking home when he remembered an old saying that his mom used to say when granny died:

'Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.'

He just noticed why his mother said that when granny died.

Riku died yesterday.

He was shot, while he was walking home from school yesterday, in a drive-by.

Sora saw the whole thing.

It was misfortune that Sora decided to look at his friend as the car started to drive up to them.

That he saw the man pointing the gun at his best friend.

That he saw the man put his finger on the trigger.

And that he was just to slow to warn Riku.

It took a while for them to calm Sora down after it happened.

He was frantic not wanting to believe Riku was dead.

It took even longer for them to convince him that there was nothing he could have done that would have helped Riku.

That there was no reason for him to blame himself for Riku's death.

It wasn't his fault that he was just to goddamn slow to warn Riku.

But it was his fault and nothing they could say could make it any better.

Riku was with him when it happened.

It was Sora's name that where the last words out of his best friends mouth before he died.

They didn't see it happen.

They didn't see the man laugh as he drove away.

They weren't the ones who where cradling the limp body of their best friend in their lap.

They didn't see the men in white put a bag around their best friend's lifeless body.

And they where not the ones who couldn't walk out the door with out crying because everything just reminded him that much more how he was never coming back.

He would cry endlessly all day until one day he stopped.

'He wouldn't like me crying so much.'

Sora decided that day.

'I can't live without him.'

He decided the next.

'I can't live like this.'

He decided the last.

That night Sora took a walk down the street Riku died on.

It was luck a car drove past him.

It was luck that man had a gun.

It was luck that man had death on his mind.

It was luck Sora was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And it was luck when he heard that sound that killed Riku, and felt that wet sticky substance near his heart.

'Thank you, Riku.'

The End
