The Seventh Hunger Games: A New Game
The First Hunger Games Profile
Victor: Thyme Stone
District: 2
Weapon of Choice: Knife
Age: 17
Number of Kills: 4
President's Notes: The First Hunger Games was a dramatic success. Ms. Stone was the odds favorite from the beginning and never let up. The final six included the District 1 boy, both from 2, the girl from 4, boy from 7, and girl from 10. The Feast eliminated five competitors prior to this including the girl from 1, boy from 4, boy from 5, boy from 6, and girl from 12.
The arena was a frozen wasteland. Note for next year – need more warmth to prevent deaths from frostbite, which totaled in 4 deaths. The final six proved to be a good idea to force them together one more time after the feast. Ms. Stone eliminated the girl from 4 in this altercation, while the boy from 1 killed the boy from 2. Began to be worried about an outer district winning the first Games.
The girl from 10 stumbled into Ms. Stone's trap and was killed, placing 4th. The final three were forced together once more by howling winds. The boy from 7 killed the boy from 1, but had many injuries on his sides and legs. Ms. Stone had an easy time of offing him. The Games lasted a week in total. Seemed about a good time length – could've been longer. Next year lengthen to a week and a half?
Gamemaker Notes: Arena needs to have little natural boundaries – perhaps an open plain next year. Give ideas to Districts 1, 2, and 4 about training tributes. Should have it up and going by the 6th or 7th year if lucky. Districts 7 and 10 proved difficult due to their natural affinity for weapons.
Notes about the Victor: Thyme Stone was a suspected sympathizer with the District cause in the lead-up to the Games. She professed nothing of the sort while at her time in the Capitol. Ms. Stone is a bulky woman, but a woman of few words. She proved to be a good first Victor of the Games and will provide a good blueprint going forward.
Head Gamemaker Trillium Rosetree scrawled down his final notes onto the page. He could hardly believe that had been six years ago now. Time had really flown. Luckily, he hadn't been forced to vacate the position he loved. Six years and six arenas had all been vastly different from another. First it was the frozen tundra, then the rolling hills and fields, the desert, jungle, after that it was…the cityscape, and the previous year had just been their best yet, a wooded area surrounding a single cottage which centered as the cornucopia.
His silver hair was slicked back on his scalp, forming a lightning pattern down his back. Twice District Two had won, the First and Third Games, District One had a Victor from the Fourth Games, District Four had won the Second Games, and unfortunately the outer districts had a winning streak now, with District Twelve winning the Fifth, and District Seven winning the Sixth.
Trillium had been forced onto a conundrum. Now five districts had Victors to mentor for them, but the other seven had none. He had never wanted to be faced with allegations of unfairness, particularly when the surprise for this year was coming…
His solution had been to merge the Escort with the Mentor in Districts 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11, simply calling them an Advisor. If everything went to plan, those districts would not be winning for a while. President Thorne had been particularly adamant about that.
He'd now outlived three Presidents during his tenure as Head Gamemaker. Trillium had thought about joining the race himself! His first one gave him the idea of Volunteers from 1, 2, and 4 being a habit, but President Thorne had been the one to see it into action. Trillium had doubted that it could happen this early, advising that they should wait until the Ninth Games before anything could be decided.
The door to his mansion was pushed open abruptly. "Gamemaker Rosetree!" A servant cried as she came inside. "I attempted to stop him at the gate, but the President was adamant about seeing you."
"That's fine, Phoenix," Trillium easily slid out of his chair and onto his feet. "No harm done. President Thorne is a busy man."
He pasted on the dazzling smile he always had when he met with a Capitolite and strolled out into the gardens. His mansion rivalled even the President's mansion, with its luscious gardens open to the sun in the summer. President Thorne was a belligerent young man, with aqua blue hair, and his hands nearly always curled into fists. Even now, as he approached Trillium in his gardens, fury was present in his sapphire eyes.
"Mr. President," Trillium bowed lower than he had to, but the man seemed pleased by it. "It is an honor to serve you. What is the matter to discuss today?"
"The plan," Thorne snapped. "It goes into effect this year. I cannot stand to have another baseborn gloater win! Imagine the hardship our citizens would have to go through if Three, Eight or Eleven won! The Careers need to be formed now, as soon as possible. I don't care if they're ready or not, I order it."
Trillium shifted uncomfortably. He placed his hands into the pockets of his robe. He tapped once, then twice, on the insides of it. "Mr. President, I implore you to rethink. These people have been training for all of four years. A test is all it is. Surely you don't want to seem unfair?"
"It has to happen sometime. Might as well be now," Thorne said, folding his arms across his chest. "That Twelve girl is infuriating. The media loves her, the people love her, and that isn't anything compared to what I've heard about the boy from Seven that won a year ago. The women love him."
"He was a fan favorite," Trillium trilled in his high toned voice. "But I see your point, Mr. President. I will see it done."
Relief flooded onto his face. He would get what he wanted, finally. Trillium was less enthused. Putting these people into the games too early, and maybe they'd lose. He would rather wait it out a couple years, and then send them in. He rubbed his temple as the President dismissed himself without another word. He wouldn't have the Games be a mockery this year, nor any year. He couldn't afford it.
Arena Notes
Cornucopia- center of the arena, as usual – stocked with various weapons and backpacks near the edges, but the tributes' favorites are farther from them, and the weapons of the ten best tributes are stationed at the exact center. There are weather-friendly outfits available for tributes as well.
Terrain – a mash-up. The games will filter into four different areas – all different. They are to represent seasons, with one being a summer-like atmosphere with a sandy beach and ocean, with a dock and small couple houses. The second to its right will be the fall-themed area, with huge multi-colored trees adorning this section. The third area will be the winter section. This will be a Yuletide-themed event, with a small gingerbread cottage being the center around a forest of Christmas trees. The last will be the spring area, which is filled with little holes that lead into different sections of the arena, and it has tall grass to hide in.
Weather events – the weather is to be themed in each area. It depends on everything of that season. Floods are possible in the summer area, storms in the spring area, and rains in the fall area, and snowstorms in the winter area.
Tribute Placement – Careers are to be spread out throughout the other tributes. The tributes are approximately 100 feet from the cornucopia to begin with, and some are starting in different weather environments.
New to the Games this year – Sponsors may send weapons and food in for hefty fees. Must approach a Gamemaker to actually send in an item.
A/N: I'm excited to do an SYOT! It's been a while since I've attempted one, and the summer seemed like a good idea for me to start one. This will not replace my SYOC I have ongoing for Game of Thrones, but just be another story to work on. The form will be below and on my profile. I will not accept reviewed characters as per rules. Be varied and interesting! Do stay within confines of rules posted below. Don't be afraid to PM me with any questions/concerns! I want to help!
Rules
1. Do not send in Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. I do not want perfect tributes, but healthy, flawed ones are wonderful. Some flaws do not mean they'll lose!
2. I will change characters, and that is a given. Just because I change them does not mean your form is bad, it just might need changes to fit into the story.
3. No canon character-alikes. I get it if you have a surfer dude from 4, it makes sense. But someone that mirrors Finnick in every way, that is too far. Again, no one related to anyone from canon (since it is so far ahead I don't see why they would be).
4. Be varied, but not so much as it doesn't make sense. I do like different tributes, but if it makes more sense that they're from a different district (say a coal miner from District 3), I won't be very inclined to make that happen.
5. Romances/Alliances are encouraged! Subplots are always where it's at, and I encourage you to think about having an in-Games romance or an out-of-Games romance (I can make the in-Games one if you prefer). Alliances are encouraged as well, or at least a possibility of having one.
6. When you send in your form, title it Tribute Name (first and last), District and Male or Female. You can submit a max of 2 characters (keep in mind some will have to be bloodbaths).
Finally the Form!
