Here's my first chapter. Took SOO long to write. Please leave Reviews! I love to hear your feedback on my works. Thank you!

DISCLAIMER: I don't own My Little Pony. This is my own totally separate story with mainly OC's.

The Moon lifted into the center of the sky, bringing another quiet night to the land. A stallion looked upon the scenery with somber eyes, while reminiscing in his past. His midnight blue mane floated around him like a weightless cloak. With a sigh, the stallion stood and stretched his legs.

"I can't seem to forget…" Darkspace mumbled, placing his right hoof on his aching head. Using magic, he pulled bottle of pain reliever towards himself. Very recently, he had been unable to sleep well, as memories kept dragging him back to his painful first love. He knew that she had departed from this world long ago, but the pain of their break up had recently begun to haunt him again. He popped two Assprin and washed it down with Apple Cider. The Prince frowned as he realized that it was the non-alcoholic version. His sister must have found his stash. "Damn…" he said.

With another depressed sigh, the Dark Prince trotted out of the loungeroom. Perhaps he could convince his sister to return his drinks. Ever since they had moved to the mansion and named it theirs, Princess Flara had taken it upon herself to try and control his drinking habits. Even though Darkspace felt bad for his sister, who hadn't found a place to fit in yet, he got very annoyed by her control complex. She had practically switched their roles and become the protective older sibling. Part of him knew that he was a sort of replacement for Flara's runaway son.

He came to a halt outside of the flaming door. It wasn't actually on fire; that would be dangerous. There was a spell on the door that cast an illusion of flames licking up the outside of the door to deter intruders. However, anyone who meant the caster harm would be burned if they tried to open the door.

"Who's there?" a bell-like voice danced from within.

"It's me, sister. May I enter?" He answered in his own powerful royal voice.

The flames on the door roared as it opened, revealing a regal room decorated in orange and red to match the magical flames that encased her walls. It was an exact rendition of Flara's childhood bedroom in their old palace. There was even heat coming off the walls like it was in hell. While others would be frightened by such a room, the atmosphere it gave off was soothing to the twin Alicorns. They had grown up in the warm atmosphere of hell, and they missed it very much sometimes. Especially in winter when they had to cuddle up in front of a magical roaring fire to keep themselves warm.

Flara was sitting on a cushion, playing a game of chess against one of her many servants. This one was a unicorn, and by checking the cutie mark, Dark remembered that this was the message bearer called Whisper Wishes. By the looks of it, he was losing miserably to the overconfident Alicorn. Flara scoffed when he cautiously moved his last night over.

"Check Mate!" She giggled, moving to capture the poor unicorn's queen in a flash. Whisper sighed and then smiled as Flara passed a sealed letter across the table to him.

"Good game." He said as he stood and bowed to her. Then the mail pony politely bowed to Prince Darkspace, before leaving the room with the letter.

Darkspace noted the many guards lined up at his sister's sides. They had all begun standing at attention as soon as he entered the room. Often Darkspace wondered if they were less of guards and more like playmates to Flara. When Flara had vowed never to summon demon minions again with her magic, Dark had suggested she hire some guards and servants. She had loved the idea, but obviously they had become more like family to her than hired muscle. She even refused to sleep without her favorite, BlueBlade, in the room.

"Flara, how can you stand to be near the messanger? He's male. I thought you were scared of males?" Dark asked. He was rather confused that she had permitted the messenger to be close enough to touch her. In the past she would order colts and stallions to be beheaded just for touching her. The Prince had to remind her that they don't allow beheading for such small things in the above-world.

Flara flipped a curl from her mane in a mist of magic. "Well he doesn't necessarily count since he is gay. " She let it drop and looked him in the eye. "Please don't tell him that I told you that. I promised to keep his secret."

Darkspace purposefully tilted his head towards his sister's guards. "Well they all know it now, so you better apologize when he gets back."

Flara blushed lightly. "Oops…" Then she turned to her guards. "You are dismissed!"

They immediately dispersed out through the doorway, each one bowing lightly to the Prince of Darkness on their way out. Darkspace frowned when he realized that they were all hiding smiles as they passed him. "What were they smiling about?" He asked his sister.

"The messenger was against the idea, but I challenged him to a game and he lost sooo…" She trailed off, noticing his confused expression. "Darkspace, I know that you are still hurting from the mare who broke your heart long ago, but you have to stop drinking your pain away. It's pathetic of you to hide miserably in your darkened bedroom sobbing over just one lover. I have tried my best to take care of you, and to keep you sober, but the stress is wearing on me." She let her head slump down, and it looked as if a huge weight was upon her back. "Darkspace, I'm tired." She let a tear fall. "I still want to find my son, if only to be sure that he is doing okay in this world. Will you let me leave?"

Darkspace was taken aback. He hadn't realized… "Oh Flara… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause you pain. I just can't seem to get her out of my head." The spot where his heart should have been, ached at the memory. "Sister, you are free to leave my side whenever you need to. I'll be fine." He smiled lightly at her as he lied through his teeth.

The Princess of Destruction lifted herself back into a regal posture. Her tears stopped falling, and she calmly looked him over. Then she spoke. "Oh, I know you will be fine. I'll make sure of it before I leave." Her eyes tightened and Darkspace started to feel slightly uneasy.

He let a few seconds pass before he spoke. "What do you mean, sister?"

Flara lifted her horn and with a *pop*, a stack of files in her hooves. "I intend to get you back in the game. You need a mare to love you and take care of your tortured heart." She flipped open the file. "I heard of a famous match maker who guarantees that she can find your fated partner in three months. Sometimes even less time is required. I sent a request for her services out with Whisper.." She didn't get a chance to finish as her brother howled in rage.

"How dare you even think of matching me with anyone without consulting me? Do you not understand the hurting in my heart?" His demon fangs were starting to show, and a red misty glow spread over his eyes. "I refuse! Leave me alone! I just want to be alone! That's how I want it…" The fangs receded and his eyes cleared up, leaving a lightly sobbing stallion in Darkspace's place. Flara flew to him and hugged him tightly to her chest.

"It's going to be okay… You'll see big brother. I'll be with you until you can stand again. I know that proud, handsome devil of a stallion is in there somewhere, and I'll wait for him for as long as it takes." She slowly rubbed his back, and prayed to any higher power that it would all be okay again soon.

TWO DAYS LATER:

Darkspace stood at attention as a grey Pegasus mare circled him. Her dark grey mane and tail were both pinned into harsh looking buns and this, combined with her tiny, frail wings and old fashioned spectacles made her look far older than she claimed to be. He became more nervous every minute that her magenta eyes stared critically at him through those blue spectacles. She sighed. "Well besides his hair, he is a total looker." She lifted a lock of his long mane in her hoof. "Do you realize how wild you look with your mane and tail floating free all over? It looks like some birds decided to nest in there." Then she let go of the blue hair. "That has got to be the first thing to change." Darkspace looked disgruntled, his feathers flexing slightly as a sign of his rising annoyance.

Flara decided to change the direction things were going before Darkspace could get too offended. "We really appreciate you coming all the way out here Miss Silverwings. I couldn't possibly help my brother find love on my own."

Silverwings smiled at her. "It's my pleasure to help any Alicorn! You all are the loveliest ponies when it comes to romance!" Then she cried out loudly. "I've got it! I know just the place in town where we can get your mane styled."

Darkspace sighed. "Listen, I prefer not to have to leave the mansion for any reason at all. Couldn't you just hire someone to come here and do it?" He asked.

"Wow, you really are a recluse. " Silverwings exclaimed. "If you want to be able to survive a modern day relationship, then you have to be a little more social than this. Most mares like to have a first date at a nice restaurant, and I doubt you have much experience in going out to eat. So rest up! I'm taking you outside to the town tomorrow." She excitedly gathered up her notes and headed out. "See you all tomorrow!"

The Alicorns watched her leave with a sense of awe. Flara in particular was very happy with the way things had turned out. "Can you only imagine?" She gushed aloud, "Soon you will find your life partner, and there will be a fantastic wedding. Oh, don't you worry yourself at all; I'll make sure to take care of all the arrangements." She fluttered her eyes and sighed for a pause, then continued. "After that there is the honeymoon, and we have to set up your room for both of you! Then there are the children!"

Darkspace, who had relaxed onto a plump couch suddenly sprang up, wide-eyed. "Ch-children?!" He sputtered. "I don't know how I f-feel about that…" he said nervously.

"Don't worry! I'll help you both take care of the little angels. They won't be without anything!" Flara said, noting her brother's reaction. "And they need a proper household to grow up in too, so we'll have to fix the drab décor outside. How do you feel about a garden? Or maybe a playground and a pool?" She shook her head. "No, no that's a terrible idea. What if the children fell in? No pool right now; maybe later when they grow old enough to swim without a lifeguard."

During this, Dark had covered his ears with a couch pillow and was trying to think happy thoughts. He wasn't succeeding. Standing, he used his magic to straighten the pillow back into its rightful place. "I'm going to turn in for the day. Silverwings did say to rest up, so that's what I'm going to do." Smoothing some of his blue feathers back under the black ones, he stretched and yawned. Then he nodded to his sister who had quieted to just mumbling plans to herself while jotting notes with a quill and scroll. She hardly noticed him take his leave, and he was grateful for that. Truthfully, Darkspace had not expected it to take all morning to evaluate his 'type' and 'preferences separately. Not to mention, the criticism on his sense of style and socializing.

He retired to his darkened room and with a quick magic word, flicked on the glittering lights. Prince Darkspace kept his room locked up and dimmed, even from his own sister. It was his secret sanctuary from the whole world. This was also the only place that he refused to bring alcoholic drinks into.

Inside, the ceiling was as blue as his own coat, and sparkled with magical star-like lights that moved around and formed different constellations. Every once in a while, there was a purple or orange planet in sight, and it was common for entire galaxies to be visible beyond the lights. There were walls, but they blended almost perfectly into the space scene, so they were hardly noticeable if he ignored the corners. The ground was a single sheet of tiling that showed a rendition of some far away galaxy. His bed was a pearly white and gleamed in the center of the dim room. The single window in the room was complimented with a marble terrace leading outside and a shiny silver telescope peering up into the sky.

He must have forgotten to put it away last night. As he trotted over to it, he noticed a shooting star and galloped the rest of the way. "Marvelous…" He breathed. Then he closed his eyes. "Please, I wish for somepony to capture my heart and make me feel again. Somepony that I can live my life out with. Thank you." He whispered. Instantly he was embarrassed. Did he really believe that wishing on a shooting star would actually work? Obviously he was indeed in need of some serious help. Dark snorted and put his telescope away. Hopefully tomorrow would bring a new dawn on his life. For tonight he only needed to rest. Yawning, he closed the terrace doors and slipped into his bed. The stars twinkled above him as he allowed himself to drift off.

The Next Day

Silverwings had delivered on her promised to be early the next morning, and Flara was sipping tea with her in the kitchen when the prince of darkness walked sluggishly in. He yawned and stared dully at the two mares who both seemed thick as thieves as they watched him. Without turning his back to them, he started a coffeepot for himself and poured a bowl of oat cereal for his breakfast. How lucky it was that he had magic. If he didn't then he felt like they would have eaten him the moment he turned. They had the expressions of hungry wolves in disguise.

"Good Morning." He said, trying to break the awful silence. Flara smiled.

"Good Morning to you as well!" She exclaimed cheerfully. "Silverwings and I were just discussing the possibility of getting you to get a head to hoof makeover instead of just a mane-cut." Silverwings nodded and blinked, taking a sip of her tea.

"That sounds painful…" Dark joked, scooping another mouthful of oats and trying not to shiver.

Silverwings and Flara traded looks, then the grey Pegasus spoke. "Well, it won't hurt too much. Don't worry; the mares I know are specialists.

When her words registered, he choked and fell into a coughing fit for a minute. His sister and the matchmaker stood in worry, but he put up a hoof to stop them and finished clearing his throat. "I thought you were joking." He said.

Silverwings eyed him critically, not quite sure if he was actually all right. "Well the sacrifice for beauty is pain, but not too much. All ponies get a little nervous at first. You will see that it isn't as bad as you might think." Flara nodded her agreement the whole time, a growing smile stretching across her face.

Darkspace looked from one to the other, quickly realizing that they had already decided upon this, and he had no say in this part of the process. He sighed and plopped his bowl in the sink. "I suppose this is all for the best." He answered. "This had better not make me look stupid though, or I swear…"

He stopped as he saw how happy he had made the two. Perhaps it would be in his best interest to let them have their fun.
