A Father's Sadness

We have opened wounds on our souls

That we now are beginning to think they'll never heal

Nobody can see them or at least you hope they don't

See your pain no matter how close you are to them

Remembering all the memories that were now lost

You went into hiding we thought we would never see you alive again

Memories gone with one could say gone with the wind

We never saw you grow up and be with you every step of the way

After dangling over the side of the cliff after a horrific but deadly car crash

Dangling from a shoe but saved by a demon

Who promised to release you on your twenty first birthday

But instead he brainwashed you and poisoned your mind

With nothing by lies none of them were true

And you attempted to do the unthinkable kill

My rangers and that includes your own flesh and blood your own sister

On one of my expeditions so long ago it's been so long

Since I seen you Tyler my son so long where does the time go

I never saw you grow up and I promised

To surprise you at a baseball game when you were eight

By I found a rare energem and some mysterious being whatever it is

It's trying to take it and possible make me disappear

I don't even know why this monster wants it so badly

Because even though I am a certified geologist

Even I don't know what this is I haven't got a clue

But I am only in hiding and constantly on the move

But I am only doing this for the greater good of my family and friends

But now after all this time father and son meet again

And let me tell you one thing they have a lot of catching up to do
