Alone
Its a constant battle for control, an inner war that wages all day and all night, never ending. Remus is stronger than many give him credit for, he keeps his wolf locked up tight when it would be so much easier to let it take over, to turn him into the sort of monster that children have nightmares about. He wonders at times if he should give in to his nature, but the wondering never lasts long as the horror of weakness has him shuddering. He will never give in, for as long as he lives, he promises himself.
He lives his life as best he can, he takes his potion to keep others safe from his alter ego, but will it ever be enough. Remus lives in constant fear of losing his grip on the wolf, of hurting someone, of inflicting his 'infection' on someone else. He lives in constant fear of becoming a monster.
Remus knows he is destined to live and be alone for the rest of his life, because its the safest way to be. The lonliness is par for the course for a tame werewolf. He is used to being alone.
