A/N: Hello, all this is my late entry into the SkyeELf challenge from a few weeks back, it's not too long. I hope you like it and leave a review if you want.

Insomnia

The sixteen year old Harry Potter was cranky, and really could not be blamed for that. He had not slept properly in a few weeks, and for once it was not due to nightmares, pain, or even fear he simply had a case of insomnia. No matter what he did sleep would just never come.

Now, this was clearly effecting Harry, but perhaps more frightening than the tired Harry, was his irritated friend Hermione Granger. She, loved Harry really she did it was hard to go through the things they had and not become attached to each other, but Harry was getting really bad.

"Listen, Harry I know your tired and really I am sorry, but glaring at your books and snapping at anyone who speaks to you, is not helping."

"Well, Hermione it's not like there is not much I can do about it. I bearly eat, have to deal with so much other stuff, then there is homework, and now on top of it all I can't sleep! I swear this is going to drive me insane and I..." Harry said starting to ramble.

At that point thought Hermione had, had enough pulling out her wand she pointed it at him and said;

Stupify!" There was a flash of red light and Harry fell to the floor sound asleep.

"Why didn't I think of that earlier?" Hermione asked outloud.

"Hermione! Why did you do that?" Ron asked.

"I'm sorry Ron, but he was getting whiny and I hate it when he gets that way. Now, get him up to his bed and let him sleep." She said.

"Blimey, Hermione you know your scary sometimes right?" He asked helping her lift Harry up.

"I know Ron, but I scare only because I care about you both." Hermione said.

Ron nodded, while silently making a mental note to really think more before he irritated Hermione again, just in case.

….

The next morning Harry, woke feeling sore, but surprisingly well rested for once. Though, he did nt remember much. One minute he had been venting to Hermione, then she had pulled her wans, and now here he was. Checking his clock he saw it was nine in the morning and was glad it was a Saturday.

Deciding to get to the bottom of all this, Harry headed down from the dormitories and found Hermione sitting near the empty fireplace and reading. Ron he assumed was with Lavender, or at breakfast.

"Hermione, did you stun me last night?" He asked.

"Yes, Harry and I am sorry, but I think you needed it." She said a bit nervously.

"Hermione?" Harry asked standing in front of her.

"Yes Harry?" She asked.

She was surprised, when instead of yelling he hugged her. "Thank you." He whispered.

"No problem, glad I could help." She said smiling.

Harry smiled too, sometimes he realized just how much worse off he would be without his friends, or at least more cranky.
