"Isaac, you know you can talk to me right? I'm your Alpha, your best friend, you are like a second brother to me. Please just talk to me." Scott said as he watched for the second day in a row as Isaac picked at his food.
After a hesitant thought Isaac spoke, "Losing Allison reminded me of losing my brother... Shortly after his death, my dad started beating me. Locking me in the freezer. I would be locked in there for hours, day even. I couldn't sleep.. I was so cold. There was no heating or lights. I was scared."
"Isaac I'm so sorry that happened to you. But he's gone now. He can't, he wont hurt you!" Scott said giving Isaac a gental squeeze to his shoulder.
"I know." Isaac said giving Scott a weak smile.
"Why does it smell like mildewed down here?" Erica asked as she and Isaac walked down the stair to what used to be Isaac's basement.
"It's from the lack of care, Erica. Watch out for when you get to the bottom. The ceiling hangs low then gets higher." Isaac said trying his best not to panic.
"I know you grew up here and everything Isaac, but it kinda stinks.
"I know. But after what happened, I just couldn't stand to live here any more." Isaac said; sadly.
After a few minutes of silence Isaac spoke again, "You know, this house has been in my family for three generations. My great-great grandparents used to raise animals behind the house. My mom would say that even after her parents go rid of the animals she could smell the manure for years after wards. Even when I was born I thought I could smell it too..."
"Have you ever thought of fixing up the house and living in it again?" Erica asked as she hugged Isaac, "You know Cora is 6 months pregnant. And you can't live in Derek's loft forever." Isaac smiled.
"Nothing would give up life: Even the dirt kept breathing a small breath," Scott read as he carried his and Isaac's baby girl into their new home, " What's it from?"
"It's from one of my favorite poems by Theodore Roethke." Isaac said, hugging Scott from behind and resting his head on Scott's shoulder.
"I like it." Abbi, Isaac and Scott's baby girl, said sticking her thumb back in mouth.
"So do I baby. It got me through a lot of hard times when I was younger." Isaac said ruffling her hair before he walked farther into the house.
