It hadn't been a good day for Marco Diaz. That afternoon, he had been just ready to go home when he went to look for Star in the hallway. And that's where he had seen it- Jackie Lynn Thomas and Jason Rolley. Holding hands. And then, she had kissed him. On the cheek, of course, but kissed him all the same.
Then he had run, no intention of going anywhere, just... running. Running away from obvious heartbreak. He ran right into Star, the person he was looking for in the first place.
"Woah, Marco!" she exclaimed, dropping her wand. She bent down to pick it back up, then saw the look on her friends face. "Wait, Marco, what happened?" she asked, with a concerned tone to her voice. Marco just shook his head. "That's not an answer, Marco," she sighed.
Star used her wand to make Marco float midair, and she walked off towards the Diaz home. Floating Marco trailed behind her, as if on an invisible leash.
When they reached the house, Star plopped Marco down on the couch and sat down next to him. "Okay, Marco, time to talk!" she said, prodding him with her finger. Marco sighed, but he gave in.
"Well, I was looking for you so we could walk home, I went into the hallway, and... Jackie was there." Star scootched closer to show he had gained her interest. Marco started to talk again. "Jackie... Jackie was with Jason. And... and she kissed him.." Star could tell that last bit was hard for him to get out. She was feeling conflicted. Star knew that she should feel bad for Marco, but there was a strange part of her that was, oddly, happy. Star couldn't understand it.
Marco lowered his voice. " I feel like I'm just all out of options now," he said. Star patted his back.
"Marco, you remember the Blood Moon Ball a while ago?" she asked. Marco gave a perplexed nod. "Well, I don't know how long you were there, so you might of missed the part where they explained what the light of the Blood Moon meant." Star said. "Well, they said that whoever the light shined on, that their souls were entwined. Like this." Star made a connecting motion with her hands. "For all eternity." She added.
Marco nodded. "And what are you trying to say, Star?" he asked.
Star smiled. "I'm saying that you'll never be out of options, Marco. Because, at that ball, the light shined on us."
