Beauty
People tell me I'm beautiful. A classic beauty, with ivory skin and full red lips. Men like to look at me, they stare, they flirt, they want to make me theirs. They wish to claim me. The Pureblood society we live in means I will be married off to the highest bidder, the most eligible family name. I will be used as a trophy, to be shown off to the public, to be used for bragging rights. Beauty is skin deep but the men don't care about that. I could be the most horrible of women, and they would still want to possess me, would want to own me, because of how I look.
Charlus is different. I think it's why I love him so, because he isn't interested solely in how I look. He asks for my opinion, he listens intently as I talk, he want's to know how I feel. He was worth disobeying my father. He was worth being blasted from my family tree. Charlus loves me for who I am, and that means everything.
Beauty is only skin deep, and it never lasts forever.
