Title: Lucifer
Author: Dreamiflame
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Don't own them. A bunch of guys at Marvel own the characters, and Bryan Singer did the movie.
Notes: This occured to me after watching the movie the second time.
John isn't Lucifer. Hell is only big enough for one Morningstar, and if John has now fallen from grace, there was another who fell long ago. John has no ideas about ruling in Hell, but he has decided that he has served long enough in Heaven.
It stifled him, Heaven, the school. The patient kind regard that tried to save him from the world and himself, and failed in both. John hates that they looked at him and saw a child.
Magneto looked at him and saw a god. And maybe Magneto and Mystique are the bad guys, the ones that the Xmen sometime fight against, but they respect him, or say they do. And after being called a god, John cannot settle for anything less.
He stands at the window as the helicopter lifts off, feeling the wind whip icy and sharp against his face. Not to reign, then, not him. He is not Lucifer. But he has served Heaven. Now it's his turn to try the opposite.
