The Eyes of a Soldier

Prologue

Humans are weak. They are delusional. They convince themselves that they are strong, but in truth they're weak. Like ants, they are only a threat in numbers. Also, like ants, it only takes flushing them out to kill them all. Humans are ants. They lash out and bite when they are scared or greeted with something unfamiliar and they live such short insignificant lives. Ants and humans are weak, but like all life, they evolve with the world. Ants were given the ability to bite, sting, and even lift ten times their own weight while humans discovered alchemy, science, and gunpowder. There is only one cardinal difference between a human and an ant, and it is sin. Humans always want more. Humans are never satisfied with what they possess. Like a disease, they take and take until there is nothing left.

A disease doesn't know when to stop infecting so many species and therefore it too will die out down the line as its number of hosts dwindles to nothing. Humans take and take before they realize that there is nothing left to take. Curiosity and sin can kill. Like a mouse wanting the cheese on a trap. Humans are weak like this. But there are exceptions to the rules and behaviors of many; the ant who feeds on his fallen siblings, the disease that stays dormant within its host until the right possible moment, and the second mouse to want the cheese. Like any species, humans have exceptions too. I am one of them.

There was a time when I didn't see the world from this pessimistic view. I actually believed that life could turn out spectacular. At least I believed this when I was with her. But like any creature on the planet earth, her life extinguished like a flame. When it did, I became the one exception to the axioms of humans. An outsider. Or so I thought.

Hey! This is my new fan fiction and I hope you like it! I dug deep into myself to understand Kimblee's philosophical view of the world and I hope I was close. This is fanfic dates back to before Edward Elric's time to the Ishvalan war and even before that! This is Kimblee's story from the beginning and I hope you enjoy it!
