Sheets of rain lashed on the deck. Annabeth held on to the wheel tightly, trying to maneuver the crew out of the storm. She was wet, cold, and she could barely see anything. It wasn't a fun job, but someone had to do it. And, unfortunately, that someone was her.

"Annabeth?" Leo called.

"What?" she yelled. She couldn't hear anything through this *beep* storm.

"I said, it's my turn!" his volume rose every word.

"Turn to what?" the volume was deafening, not that she cared. The sound of thunder and storm covered it up, anyways.

"Turn to drive the boat!"

"I can't hear you!"

Leo shook his head and came over. "My turn to drive."

"Oh." she went down the stairs and tried to get some sleep before the sun came out - if ever.

But she couldn't sleep. She tried. So hard. But she couldn't find a comfortable position, couldn't help thinking about the war, couldn't control the rocking of the boat, couldn't-

She took a deep breath. She would be okay.

She wandered aimlessly around the lower deck, trying to distract herself from her own troubled thoughts. Somehow, she ended up in front of Percy's room. She hesitated, then, making up her mind, walked in.

"Hey, Seaweed Brain."

"Wise Girl? What are you doing here? I thought you were sleeping."

She gave him a tight smile. "Couldn't sleep."

He hugged her. "Yeah, me neither. Wanna go somewhere?"

"Yeah, where?"

"Well, how about the..." there was a loud boom of thunder and the rest of his words were lost. "...sound good to you?"

"What was that? I couldn't hear you over the," she gestured towards the sky. "The - the thunderstorm."

"Well, on a different occasion, I would have taken you down to the pegasus stables, but the weather isn't quite the best, is it?" he laughed. She loved that laughed. It made her feel safe, even in a storm like this.

"I don't care if it's wet, I just want to be with you."

"Getting sappy, are we?" he smirked. "Guess that shows how much you love me!"

"Oh please, as if." she batted his arm lightly.

"You totally love me!" he teased. "Now, dear lady, who apparently doesn't love me, shall I escort you down to the pegasus stables? To warn you, I would like to say that they are extremely wet."

She rolled her eyes. "I'm sure I'll be fine, good sir. But since you offered, I think it would be very nice if you carried me."

He looked dismayed. "C-carry you? How much do you way?"

"Eh, probably about the same as you. It'll be fine." she waved her hand.

"Oh, alright. Just this once." she jumped on his shoulders.

"Away, my trustworthy steed!"

"You're the worst."

"But you love me!"

"Yeah, I do."

They sat together on the glass floor, just holding hands. It was warm, cozy... just what she needed at the time.

They both stared at the sky, now clear. The stars seemed to shine brighter than usual. You can't see the rainbow until you see the storm, she remembered. A quote. From somewhere.

"Percy?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you love me?" she grasped his hand tighter.

"Of course. With all my heart. You, Annabeth Chase, have my undying love."

"Who's getting sappy now?"

He laughed, softly, as to not wake anyone up. "But you love me for it."

"Yeah," she breathed. "I do."

And they sat that way, hands intertwined, until the sun rose. But the most beautiful part was her rainbow - the one sitting next to her.
