Disclaimer: I don't own ElfQuest. Duh. But I do own Silverstar and Ashleaf. Nyah!

Author's Note: For anybody who's interested, Silverstar is Skywise's sister and older than him by about a hundred years. And Ashleaf, as his name kinda suggests, is a treeshaper. That has nothing to do with the story, but I told you anyway? Why, you may ask? Because I felt like it! Oh, and you should probably know that the story starts in the Sun Village about a year before graphic novel #2 begins. That's all I have to say. Read the story now.

Silverstar

I had sensed Ashleaf watching me for the last several nights. Judging by the look in his eyes, I thought I knew why he was doing it. I had to admit I found him attractive, and his evident attraction to me made mine all the stronger.

This night I could feel his gaze on me almost like a touch. Being a natural flirt, I soon found myself stealing furtive glances at him through long, silvery eyelashes. After several minutes of this he managed to catch my gaze and hold it. He smiled slowly, a wicked gleam in his eyes.

**Hello,** he sent.

I let an equally wicked smile play across my features. **Hi there.**

He inclined his head slightly towards the opening of one of the nearby caves, and gave me a questioning look. I nodded. He stood and walked towards the cave-mouth, and I followed him. My brother, Skywise, caught my eye and winked. I smiled and punched his shoulder lightly as I passed him.

Ashleaf waited for me in the darkness of the cave. No words were required. He took me in his arms, brushing his lips across my throat. We let our passion take it from there.

Ashleaf

It was morning. I sat propped up against the wall of the cave. Silverstar had fallen asleep wth her head in my lap. I gazed down at her lovely face, the deep blue eyes closed in sleep. Her long, silver-white hair was soft against my bare skin. I felt a deep tenderness for her growing in my heart.

I heard soft footsteps and looked up to see Skywise standing at the mouth of the cave.

"Come in," I told him, speaking softly so as not to wake his sister. He came and sat beside me.

"She's really something, isn't she?" he said.

"Yes, she is," I replied. "She has . . . fire."

"She certainly does." He grinned. "Though I'll bet she uses it differently with you than with me."

I laughed softly.

Skywise reached out and touched her cheek softly. "I'm glad she has someone to take care of her now," he said quietly. "She's been lonely for a long time, I think ever since I stopped treeing with her. She tries to keep it from showing, but I can tell." He looked at me. "You will take care of her, won't you?"

I nodded. "Yes, I'll take care of her," I promised.
