Disclaimer: Don't own Naruto…

AN: A drabble, nothing more, nothing less.

Usually at 12:00 at night one might be asleep in their cozy beds, or cramming for the next Chemistry test. This was not the case for Uzumaki Naruto as he wandered the forest, oblivious to the restraints of curfews and all that crap. Why you ask? Well Uzumaki Naruto isn't your average run of the mill Ninja.

True, Ninjas aren't really common but Naruto was special. And at the moment this special boy had a very special follower that hid in the shadows, too shy to approach this boy.

Let's take a look at the life of Uzumaki Naruto.

Bubbly, cheerful, carefree. Theses are all words you could use to describe Naruto, yet at the moment Naruto was anything but this. In fact, one might suggest Naruto looked decidedly depressed.

Yes, Uzumaki Naruto looked depressed with the world. The grief that he hid deep within himself until these special minutes where he thought he was alone.

But throughout all these times there was always a special person watching Naruto as he broke down. She was always in the shadows, watching Naruto. Even though it was well past her curfew she snuck out, telling herself that she would help Naruto. Yet every single time Naruto did break down, she found herself helpless to do anything.

The girl didn't understand fully what Naruto was going though, but she understood enough to feel his heart yearning for compassion and love. Something the girl was overflowing with, if only she had the courage to give it to him.

Once again, Naruto was about to break down. As the boy slowly kneeled to the ground he looked up into the starlit sky uttering one clear word, "Why," before grief suddenly enveloped his features.

And the girl watched. She swore to herself that she would help the boy today. Yet, seeing the boy in such distress paralyzed her.

Unable to overcome her paralysis the girl retreated into the darkness, feeling her heart breaking in half as the blond boy sobbed without restraint.

AN: I wrote this in fifteen minutes I had before I went on a trip with my parents. I didn't check it over. I wrote it on a whim because of how I'm feeling right now. I needed to let it out and this seemed to be right best way to do it. Yeah, until next time…
