Hey guys! This is a short idea I got. It's only a few hundred words long. If you're reading my other story, 'Fixing Broken Souls', then yes, I am still working on that, but I got this idea and just wanted to write it and post it quickly. I welcome any reviews.
The title of this fanfiction comes from 'Missing' by Evanescence. All credit goes to the creator of the song. AKA, not me.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or any associated characters, events, etc.
Dean Winchester groaned as he woke up. He looked around the room. He didn't know why, but something wasn't right. After a few minutes of casting a confused glance about the room for something that wasn't there, he shrugged and got up.
Once he had eaten breakfast, he examined his phone on the table next to him. After a moment's consideration, he opened it up to call his brother.
"Sam?" He asked, when someone answered the phone.
"Dean? What's up?" His little brother replied tiredly over the phone.
"I feel like I'm forgetting something important. Like, really, really important. Did something bad happen to someone we know?" Dean pressed a hand to his forehead and rubbed his eyes wearily. "It's just, I've got a really bad feeling that I'm forgetting something that's, well, important."
"I'm pretty sure everyone's fine, Dean. You probably just had a strange dream, that's all."
"Yeah. I think you're right. I just wanted to make sure." He paused for a moment. "Yeah, I did have a weird dream. I think we killed a bunch of monsters. And there was this other guy there too. He was important. I can't remember what he looked like."
"Okay, Dean. If that's everything, I kinda need to get to work. See you on Thursday."
"What's happening on Thursday?"
In his mind's eye, Dean could see Sam roll his eyes dramatically. "It's Thanksgiving, Dean. Everyone's going to Bobby's house, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. Sorry, I'm exhausted. So, I'll see you and Jess then?"
"Yeah. Bye, Dean."
"Bye, Sammy." Dean hung up the phone. He thought about his dream again. Who was the other guy in it? He couldn't remember. It was really irritating. He thought he might remember a...a trenchcoat? Something like that. Whatever. Probably didn't matter.
An ex-angel and a tall hunter sat by a bed in a hospital.
"Sam..." The former angel began mournfully.
"Yeah Cas?" Sam asked, his throat dry.
"Do you think he's going to wake up soon?"
Sam Winchester stared down at the comatose form of his older brother. "I don't know, Castiel." He replied quietly. "I don't know."
So, yeah, kinda depressing, sorry. It was just an idea running around my head. It takes place when Cas is human, because if he was still an angel then he'd be able to help Dean. I hope you like it! And if anyone wants to write an ending for it, happy or sad, go ahead. You have my permission to take my idea and run with it.
