Just a dream
Hello people of the internet! I am Nerdfighters, obviously, and yeah... whatever. Quick little one-shot involving Gray Wing and Storm. Contains major spoilers so read at your own risk!
Images flashed before Gray WiIng's eyes, whirling by him faster than the monster's that roamed the thunderpath's. A smothered feeling settled over him and he attempted to back away from the images, clamping his eyes shut. He backed into something, well, not a something, but a someone. A sweet scent covered the air around him, that was nearly intoxicating.
"Gray Wing," A cool, yet so soft and sweet voice greeted. He instantly whipped around and met the other cats gaze. A beautiful gray tabby- no, she was far beyond beautiful, she was absolutely perfect in every aspect. Storm.
"Storm!" Gray Wing's startled yowl cut through the once quiet clearing, alerting everything that they were there. "But you were- how did you- what?" He babbled out, confusion flooding his gaze, but it was quickly replaced by a feeling that he had not felt in a long time, something that bubbled in his chest, that made him feel like nothing was impossible; love.
A throaty purr erupted from Storm's throat and she pressed her nose to Gray Storm's cheek, a sign of affection. Her eyes closed and the images of the clearing melted away to reveal that they were standing on the moor, their pelts light by the moon's glowing light. Gray Storm felt the all to familiar glow of confusion return and disappointment flooded through him. "You're... you're just a dream?" He asked hesitantly, praying that he was wrong and that his mind was just playing tricks on him.
Storm pulled away quickly, stepping back into the shadows, "I'll only ever be just a dream..." she murmured, her tone bittersweet. She began to evaporate into the shadows and the entire moor began to disappear.
"No! Wait- Storm!" Gray Wing shouted frantically, racing towards his love, whipping his head back and forth wildly. Panic and pain tore through his heart as he couldn't find her. In a voice barely above a whisper, he meowed; "I still love you..."
"Wake up!" A voice ordered rudely, a claw jabbing his side harshly. Gray Wing's eyes fluttered open and he lifted his head to see his brother, Jagged Peak, standing over him, eyes alight with concern. "You alright? You were yowling in your sleep."
Gray Wing felt pain pierce his heart as he remembered the dream from the previous night. He shook his toughts away and sat up, licking his pelt. "Yeah, I'm fine," he meowed, though his voice sounded hollow and dry.
"Must've been some nightmare," Jagged Peak commented lightly, failing to notice his brothers tone. "Anyway, Tall Shadow needs you to go hunting," he informed, before limping out of the den, keeping his weight off of his injured paw.
"It was just a dream," Gray Wing said after his brother, his gaze directed at his paws, eyes filled with a certain sorrow that only a broken heart could bring.
"Just a dream."
The end, or whatever. Yeah, there should be a certain point at night where I shouldn't be allowed to write anything, but whatever. Review if you enjoyed it, sit in your own pile of hate if you didn't. Yeah, it was rather short, but ther wasn't anything left to be said.
Peace out!
