"Well, I think that he is totally gorgeous -"

Padma rolled her eyes, stumbling past her sister's bedroom. The door was slightly open, only enough that she could hear Parvati's best friend's dull, extremely annoying voice. It didn't help that Lavender continued, seemingly unable to help herself.

" - really, the boy is way out of her league, there is no way he'd want to date her!"

Of course not, Padma thought sarcastically, he'd obviously want to date someone as wonderful as you.

"I know, Lav. I agree with you." Parvati answered, closer than Lavender's had been.

The bedroom door opened then, revealing her twin sister dressed in her pink poke-a-dot pajamas. Parvati blinked in surprised to see her standing outside the door. Padma hadn't even realised she'd stopped, caught up in eavesdropping on the two Gryffindor's.

"Hi." Her sister said, opening the door further when Lavender asked who she was talking to.

The blonde nodded, "Oh, you."

"Yes." Padma said, smiling falsely. "Me."

This annoyed the other girl, but she didn't take any notice; a talent she'd developed over listening to Lavender for four years now. Even after all that time she could still not see the appeal of the girl, many times she'd nearly asked Parvati to stop inviting the Gryffindor to their home during the summers but that would be cruel.

Lavender was Parvati's best friend, after all.

Padma really couldn't see why through.

"You okay?" Her sister asked, lowering her voice slightly in concern. "Do you still feel sick?"

The question brought back the reason she'd been walking past the bedroom in the first place, she'd been on her way to the bathroom. Nodding, Padma placed a hand on her stomach.

"I do."

Her confession only brought the stomach ache back with force, making her groan. Padma leaned her head against her sister's door frame, closing her eyes upon the cold - wonderfully cold - surface.

There was rustling, indicating that Lavender was getting up. The next second she squeezed her eyes tighter, a headache also building at the girl's high-pitched voice right next to her ear.

"Did you take a potion?" Padma sighed. "No, Lavender, I didn't. I let myself be in pain because I would prefer that."

"Why?" The girl asked dumbly, making her snort.

This action caused a sudden lunge in her stomach, making her double over before she could help herself. Padma didn't register anything except bile rising in her throat and the horrified screams of the two Gryffindors. Staring through blurry eyes she realised she'd been sick.

On Lavender.

"Oh my god!" The girl shrieked, jumping away from Padma in disgust. "These are brand new slippers! Oh my god!" Despite the situation, Padma laughed.

Honestly, she couldn't have planned that any better.
