A/N: Trying to write this while on vacation on a phone + a slow tablet is not easy, but I just felt I really needed to write something.

Spoilers: For 3x02 Purpose in the Machine.

It was unreal. Against all odds he'd managed to get her back. He was still not entirely sure it was real. Except for the fact that she was lying there right there in front of his eyes.
He'd never been so exhausted, and so relieved at the same time. He'd never lost hope even just once that he'd find her, but touching her after months of not seeing her, not knowing what had happened, and then being ripped away when they retracted the cord had made him panic. Had they both not managed to get through the portal in time. Had th others pulled him back leaving her behind it would have been worse than not knowing. She would have been trapped and finding an alternate way through to a place he didn't know where was to find her again would be painstaking. Of course he would be even more determined knowing for a fact that she was alive. But they had made it, so luckily there was no reason to even think about that. She was alive, she was safe, and she was back here with him.

He hadn't left her side since he'd rescued her. Making sure she was okay. She looked just as exhausted as he felt. When she finally went to sleep he didn't leave the room. He simply sat down on the floor and kept watch, not that he expected anything to happen to her, he just couldn't bare to leave her alone. Not after all that had happened to them, to her. They'd been away from each other for too long already. And God only knows what had happened to her in all the months on that godforsaken planet.

He hadn't planned on sleeping there like that, he was just going to rest his eyes for a minute, but months of worry overtook his body and made him rest with more peace in mind than he had allowed himself in quite a while.

She woke up and for a moment she didn't know where she was. She looked around and when she saw Fitz it all came back to her. Where she was and what had happened. She released a breath and relaxed. The bed somehow felt too soft, especially after spending months sleeping on the ground, on rocks and in caves. So she went over to where Fitz was sleeping on the floor. Laid down next to him and put her head on his lap. He didn't stir. She touched his leg just to make sure he was real and not only a figment of her imagination. When she had assured herself of that she smiled and closed her eyes. She was home now, here with him, she could finally sleep peacefully again. Reality had once again been restored to something recognizable.
