Chapter 1
Two children –siblings to be more clear– were hiding in the branches of a huge tree while another child was at the base of the tree, counting with her tiny hands covering her eyes. The girl finished her count and twirled around. "Ready or not, here I come!"
She ran around the tree for a while, searching for any signs of the other two children. One of the siblings snickered as the smaller girl ran into the house, causing his female counterpart to slap her hand over his mouth. She put her finger to her lips and shushed him. "Be quiet or she'll hear us." she whispered. They looked down towards the ground again. No younger sibling.
"Did she give up?" the girl asked. The boy shrugged his shoulders. "Dunno I can't see her. Maybe she did." The girl laughed excitedly. "Yay! We won Roy-nii!" Roy Mustang grinned and puffed out his chest proudly. "Of course we won; because I'm awesome." Kagome Mustang giggled at her twin's antics. "Should we say something to 'Kira-chan?" Roy nodded. "Yea, I shall take pity on my younger sister and reveal my hiding spot because I am the ROY MUSTANG!" He finished his mini lecture with a flamboyant flourish of his hand. Suddenly, a pair of small, tanned hands stretched out from behind the twins and gripped their shoulders tightly. "A ghost~!"
The twins jumped, the hairs on the back of their necks standing on end. "Uwaaah! KIRA!" They pouted angrily as their younger sibling cackled to herself gleefully. "When did you get up here?" Kagome asked, rubbing her arms which were now riddled with bumps. Akira stopped giggling, wiping away her tears then pointing to worn footholds at the back of the tree. Roy frowned then sighed heavily, an exasperated smile on his face. "How bout we head in for lunch? I don't know about you guys but I'm starved!" His two sisters nodded enthusiastically and stood up, careful of their footing.
Roy clambered down the tree first, expertly utilizing the footholds he had memorized by heart. Once he had reached the bottom he gave a thumbs-up to Kagome. The raven-haired girl hooked her younger sister's arms around her neck, slung her over onto her back and began to cautiously descend, eventually joining her brother at the bottom.
The trio made their way to kitchen and fixed themselves sandwiches. They were in the middle of eating and chatting when they heard a shrill shriek.
"We've been over this already! The children are coming with me!" "Like hell they are! I-!" "You'll barely be there to take care of them! If they go with you, their childhood is flushed down the drain!"
The two voices continued their dispute. Akira whimpered softly and clung to Kagome, burying her small head into her sister's shirt. Kagome wrapped her arms around the quivering girl and Roy patted her shoulder in silent reassurance. "It's gonna be oka-!" A strong arm wrapped around Roy's waist and pulled him into a hard chest. "I'm leaving! I had enough of you!" Kagome tried to grab her brother's hand but their father moved him out of her reach. He stomped away, kicking open the door and tossing Roy into the backseat. He got into the driver's seat and started to speed away.
Roy was able to roll down the window and attempted to jump out of the opening. His father, though, reached around and gripped the boy's leg, preventing him from escaping. "Kagome! Akira! Help!" The two sisters leapt out of their seats and went to rush out of the doorway. Their mother appeared behind them and grabbed Akira. The green-haired girl shrieked in anguish and beat against her mother's arm. Kun-Loon reached for Kagome but she danced out of her reach and ran out of the house. She looked frantically for the car and finally caught sight of it rolling down the hillside. "Roy-nii! Please don't go! Come back!" Roy struggled against his father's grip, kicking and squirming. Nearing the end of his patience, his father pulled Roy onto the seat and tied him down with the seatbelt.
Roy writhed against his bindings vainly. With one final strain, Roy slumped against the seat, tired and exhausted. A heavy, chilling feeling settled over her chest, pricking at his bones. In the deep recesses of his mind, Roy realized that the next time he would see his siblings again; it would be in the far off future. The cold feeling on his chest pressed down harshly. Roy twisted around so that his face would be visible from the window. He caught sight of Kagome, his sister, his other half, running after the car, panting and frantic. Cupping his hands around his mouth, Roy shouted, "I promise!" Kagome fell back, confused and tired, her lungs burned. "I promise I'll find you again. I SWEAR ON MY SOUL! I WILL FIND YOU AGAIN!" Roy's slate-blue eyes shined with fierce resolution.
Kagome cupped her hands around her mouth. "PROMISE?" Roy nodded and put a hand over his heart. "PROMISE!" he shouted back, his voice faded slowly as the car became smaller and smaller, until it was a dot in the horizon. Kagome's eyes but she held back her tears. Her being ached for its counterpart, her best friend. She felt numb, but her mind registered something hot flowing over her cheeks, and it wasn't sweat. She collapsed to the ground, feeling rather cold and empty. Her brother's words echoing in her ears. I promise I'll find you again! I SWEAR ON MY SOUL! I WILL FIND YOU AGAIN!
ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE.
Kagome gasped, her electric blue eyes snapping open. A fuzzy outline of a young boy reached out to her, tendrils of its ghostly hand curling around the palm. "Roy-nii?" The image began to fade and the raven-haired miko tried to grab its flickering hand. "Roy-nii!" Her vision cleared and there was nothing there. She bent her head down, her bangs shadowing her eyes. She looked up again, examining the state of her companions. Sango was leaning against a transformed Kirara, Miroku lying not too far away from the pair, a goofy smile and a dimming scarlet handprint on his features. Shippo was curled up against her chest, softly snoring in his sleep. Inuyasha and a recently joined Kikyo were missing from the camp. Why am I not surprised? She thought. She ran a hand through her tresses, staring dazedly into the dying embers of the fire. She looked around once more. Where's- A rough, calloused finger poked her cheek. There she is. Exhausted sapphire eyes glanced to the side and locked onto pale silver.
Akira gestured to a few bushes to the left where a tail of a shikigami disappeared. C'mon. She mouthed. Tucking Shippo securely into the sleeping bag, Kagome set off with her bow and arrows after the retreating back of her sister.
They walked for a while in silence, each in their own thoughts as their feet moved. Then, almost by instinct, they stopped simultaneously and looked up from the ground. Inuyasha and Kikyo stood in a clearing, wrapped in a tight embrace.
"Inuyasha, tomorrow we shall face Naraku, and after he is dead, will you go with me to Hell?" Kikyo murmured, her usually cold hazel eyes almost warm as she buried her face in Inuyasha's shoulder. Inuyasha kissed her cheek tenderly. "Yes."
Akira rolled her eyes and glanced at Kagome, mouthing the words, Necrophilia. Kagome smiled tiredly. Akira smirked. But then she turned serious. It's okay, she mouthed. I had a vision; we'll see him very soon. Kagome's smile became bittersweet and she stared up at the sky, leaning against the tree she was hiding behind. "I hope so." she whispered softly.
ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE. ThIs Is A lInE.
Halfway around the world,a raven-haired man with slate eyes jerked awake from his slumped over position on his desk and gasped for air deeply. He ran a hand through his messy strands and sighed. 14 years.14 years and I still hadn't found them. He stood up from his chair and walked over to the window behind him. They've probably given up on me by now. He pressed his forehead against the cold glass, reveling in the relief it offered for his heated skin. I wonder if their looking at the same sky I am. He thought with melancholy. He pulled out his personal agenda and skimmed through it. He sighed heavily as he was reminded that he would be assigning the Elric Brothers their first mission fairly soon, inspecting the coalmines of Youswell. Damn my life.

Back in the Feudal Era, it had been a week since she and Akira had spoken about him. Now, they stood with Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku, Kirara, Shippo, Sesshoumaru, Kouga, Ginta, Hakkaku, and Kikyo in the midst of a battlefield. They all stood, battered, bruised, and bleeding, before the purified remains of Naraku. Kagome now held the full and purified Shikon no Tama in her fingers. She looked over to Inuyasha who was holding hands with a grim-faced Kikyo.
Kagome looked over to her sister and saw her smirking at her, standing alongside Sesshoumaru whom she admired and respected immensely. Akira glanced at Kikyo then at Kagome, sending a silent message.
Kagome nodded and walked over to Inuyasha and Kikyo. Kikyo gripped Inuyasha's hand tighter while Inuyasha looked surprisingly determined. Kagome became confused but shrugged it off as determination to tell her that he wanted to spend his life with Kikyo. She continued to walk until she was in front of the couple. Inuyasha opened his mouth to talk but Kagome held up her hand, stopping him. "I support your relationship, Kikyo." She said evenly. Kikyo looked shocked and Inuyasha looked strangely discouraged. Kagome became more confused but continued to talk. "I found out that I only loved Inuyasha as an immature younger brother. I misinterpreted it as otherwise though, and I apologize for having to complicate your relationship. Remember to send me an invitation for the wedding." Kagome said, trying to finish the conversation light-heartedly.
She turned to leave but felt someone grip her wrist. She turned and was shocked to see Inuyasha holding it. "Kagome, I want you to become my second mate." He said firmly. Kagome was too stunned to say anything or even to slap him. Akira, however, wasn't. She jumped from her place at Sesshoumaru's side, ran across the field, and punched Inuyasha full in the face. "You moron!" She would have continued to beat him up if not for her elder sister holding up a hand, stopping her from inflicting any further damage.
Kagome stared at a black-eyed Inuyasha and gently shook her head. "I will not. I do not love you Inuyasha. I told you already, I thought of you as a younger brother but misread it as a lover. Even if I still loved you, I refuse to play some concubine or second mate to you. I was born in the future Inuyasha Where men married only onewoman and loved her and her alone. To become a second wife, mate, or anything else would be too wrong for me to accept. Don't continue this foolish want and just stick with the woman you have. Kikyo is very capable of keeping you happy and very capable of loving you with her entire being. So enjoy the gift you have now, instead of wanting someone you will never get."
Inuyasha, though, ignored her warning and began to advance towards her. "No, you will become my second mate. Neither of you will leave my side." He said as he began to walk towards Kagome. Kagome felt rage rise within her and pulled back her hand and slapped Inuyasha with such force, it dislocated his jaw. "Never! Isn't Kikyo enough? I thought you wanted her since you always snuck off to see her! Straighten your thoughts Inuyasha! What about Kikyo?" Kagome shouted in anger. Inuyasha stood up and shook his head. He snapped his jaw back into place and began to walk towards her again. "Kikyo wouldn't mind." He said confidently.
"Yes I would! I want to be your one and only love Inuyasha! I can't love a man who loves someone else!" Kikyo screamed. Tears brimmed in her hazel eyes and her knuckles were white. Inuyasha ignored her and continued advancing towards Kagome. Kagome looked straight at Kikyo and an understanding formed between them. Kikyo walked over to Kagome and stood side-by-side to her. "Inuyasha, you played with my heart and wounded it multiple times," Kagome began. "And now you had toyed with mine and just now tore it to pieces." Kikyo said coldly. "We won't stand for it any longer. Choose one or get none!" they cried out in unison.
"Both." Inuyasha said without hesitation. "Please, don't make us do this." Kikyo pleaded, tears falling down her face. Inuyasha stayed firm and continued to walk towards the two. Kikyo gasped in pain. How could I have loved such a selfish man as he? Kagome's eyes hardened and she walked to Inuyasha. She grasped the prayer beads around his neck and removed the incantation on it. The beads glowed before falling to the ground. Realizing he had just lost both of the women he loved, Inuyasha's eyes turned carmine. "Kikyo, now!" Kagome cried. Kikyo threw a sutra at Inuyasha and chanted a spell. Inuyasha's body glowed white, before vanishing.
"What happened?" Sango asked. Kikyo started to sob, turning around and gripping Akira's jacket. The green-haired woman awkwardly patted her shoulder. Kagome turned to face everyone else. "We sent Inuyasha far from here. He is no longer in Japan." She looked at the bauble in her hand, whispering soft promises to her. "I wish that the Shikon no Tama disappears, forever." The Shikon glowed pink before disappearing. Then, Kikyo's form glowed white, and color returned to her cheeks. She looked up, her face smeared with tears and her eyes full of happiness and sadness. "Thank you Kagome. But what's the point now? I only wanted my body back so I could be with Inuyasha. Now, I have nothing." She said bitterly.
"No, Kikyo, you can't go on like this. Inuyasha wasn't everything. You can find happiness. You've just been looking for it in the wrong place." Kagome said. Kikyo broke down again and cried onto Akira's shirt.
The gang returned to Sesshoumaru's shiro where their wounds were treated. Then after fully recovering, they celebrated. Miroku finally proposed to Sango and she finally accepted. In celebration to their engagement, they drank to the couple's commitment. Miroku slyly lured Akira into a drinking game of which she won after several bottles.
Several days after the celebrations ended, Kagome woke up and felt an unexpected desire to find her counterpart. The feeling spread all over her body so with newfound determination, she decided to leave for her time period and to start searching for her long-lost brother. She crawled over to Akira who was passed out hugging several bottles of sake. She shook her sibling's shoulder lightly, murmuring for her to awaken. Akira's eyes opened, glazed over with a hangover. "Urgh, go way. Leave meh lone." Her words were slurred. Kagome rolled her eyes. "Come on. We need to get home. I'm tired of waiting for Roy to find us. We're not helpless kids anymore." Akira rolled over onto her stomach. "Ya sure?" she croaked. Kagome nodded. The green-haired Higurashi groaned and dragged herself to the baths.
Kagome wrote a note for the group and together with Akira (after she took a bath), walked to the well, and jumped into it. They arrived in their time and began to prepare for their trip to where their brother was.

At the Airport, the siblings sat, waiting for their flight to be announced. "You do know it's going to be a 5-day flight, right?" Akira asked. "Yeah, yeah, I know…. Are you sure, about your vision I mean." Kagome said nervously.
Akira smacked her sister on the head and Kagome pouted. "Calling for all passengers boarding the flight to Amestris. Calling for all passengers boarding the flight to Amestris." A crisp feminine voice called from the P.A. "That's our cue." Akira said, grabbing her bags and dragging them along with Kagome to their plane.
The fight to board the plane was harsh, especially with Akira getting groped by a guy. She proceeded to beat him up and would've hospitalized him if not for Kagome dragging her away. They continued to board the plane with no further problems and after a short argument; Kagome won rights to the window seat.
Casting a sideways glance to her sibling, Kagome giggled as she saw Akira scowling. "So, how big is Amestris?" she asked, trying to spark up conversation. Akira stuck her tongue out at her sister then pulled out a map and examined it. Her eyes widened in realization. "Fucking shit!" she shouted, startling most of the other passengers and earning a few glares from mothers. "What?" Kagome asked, concerned. "Amestris is twice the size of Japan!" Akira shouted angrily. Oh, wonderful. How are we going to find Roy now? Kagome thought.

A/N: Does anyone know what the Japanese term is for the Feudal Era? I know it's Sengoku something-other. Revising a chapter is hard when you typed everything while listening to Nyan Cat's theme. Don't do what I do….. I need some Chipotle.
