The Doctor had wanted to steer clear of Earth for a while; too many painful memories that he'd rather forget.

'Let's go visit Captain Jack.'

The Doctor ignored the TARDIS and continued fiddling with the metal box he had on his lap.

'You can't forget everything.'

"I'm not listening," the Doctor said.

'That's very childish.'

"Still not listening."

'Foolish child.'

The Doctor snorted and was glad when there was no more from the TARDIS.

He wasn't prepared for the TARDIS to lurch and suddenly been in flight. Whatever he tried he couldn't stop the TARDIS and he was flung around like a marble.

The TARDIS landed with a thump and with a great deal of trepidation he pulled on his coat and stepped out of the TARDIS and found himself with great relief that he was in Torchwood.

What he wasn't expecting was Jack Harkness pointing a gun in his face.

"Who the hell are you and how the hell did you get in!"

The Doctor grinned at what he thought he was a grand joke. "Oh very good."

He frowned when Jack didn't smile or grin or say something flirty. He frowned even more when the gun was shoved in his face.

"Turn around," Jack growled and the Doctor for the first began to realise that something was not quite right.

For now he would comply and allowed himself to be cuffed.

It was when he was being shoved in one of the cells that he kicked off.

"Jack, what are you doing?"

Jack locked the cell and looked at the Doctor. "Don't call me that. I don't know you. You're an alien that has managed to break into a high security facility."

The Doctor moved to the front of the cell. "It's me Jack, the Doctor."

Jack stopped. "If you're the Doctor then you'll never leave this cell. You're Torchwood's enemy number one."

With that the door to the cells was closed and the Doctor was left alone. He sank to the floor, what had happened.

He closed his eyes and he suddenly felt very tired and was soon asleep. He was rudely awakened by two burly men hauling him up.

There was nothing he could do as he was dragged to what looked way too much like an autopsy room.

Then his world turned to a nightmare as he was strapped down and then his world went dark.

He jerked awake and found himself on the grating of the TARDIS and not on the metal table; it had been a horrible nightmare.

Then he realised what the TARDIS had done, but he had to make sure it was just a dream.

Jack looked up from the computer as he heard the familiar sound of the TARDIS and he stood up.

As soon as the TARDIS solidified the Doctor stepped out.

To Jack's eyes he looked a little nervous and seemed to eye Jack warily.

"Doc, are you okay?"

He suddenly found himself with an armful of Time Lord.

"Nice to see you too," Jack said.

They spent the next few hours reminiscing and eating all of the Doctor's favourite foods.

"You won't stay the night?" Jack said with just a hint of suggestion in his voice.

He smiled when he got the customary roll of eyes.

But what he wasn't expecting was for the Doctor to step forward and place a hand on his face and say in a voice that made his heart stutter and his stomach flutter.

"I'll never forget you Jack and don't ever forget me."
