Sweet, sugary tea swirled around in my porcelain mug as I twirled it, stopping only briefly because he wanted my attention again.
That bloody git.
"Yo, England?" His voice sounded shakier than usual, not to mention less excitable.
I lifted my head a touch, my emerald eyes meeting his sky blue ones and locking on.
"What now, America?" I replied, my fingers drumming the side of the sofa as I observed him.
Nervously, he extended a gloved hand towards me, and rested it gently on my thigh. He glanced to the left for a millisecond before returning his gaze to me.
God, what was making the git so awkward?
"… Well … Yo, uh, will you go on … a date with me? Not to McDonalds or anything, I promise …"
The porcelain cup fell from my hand as I gasped, going bright red in utter shock.
"… You mean … A proper date? Y-you aren't being a wanker and being sarcastic?!"
He shook his head, and a gargantuan grin spread across his childish face.
"Yup! No worries yo! I mean it, we can … Go to … Ah! We can go see a movie! Ahahaha, how does /that/ sound? Is there anything you want to see?" His voice was hyper and excited, any hint of nervousness completely gone.
Eyes wide and face as red as one of Romano's tomatoes, I nodded briskly.
"As a matter of fact, er, yes … The King's Speech sounds pretty good, no?" I coughed before finishing the sentence, trying to regain any dignity that I'd lost in my embarrassment.
His reaction was as expected.
"The … King's Speech? Awww … But I was thinking we could go see Avengers! Loads of superheroes, yo! Bam, and … pow and … C'mon it'll be mega awesome!"
It was impossible to refuse him, even in my disgust at his film choice. Oh, the things I could say to criticise a superhero film. But, since this was for America, I guess I could make some attempt at watching it.
I smiled, before sighing and raising myself up slowly.
"Fine, fine. I guess we shall go see … The /Avengers/ movie then … "
America's face lit up, and he beamed broadly at me before wooping loudly and punching the air.
"Yes! I /knew/ you wouldn't let me down, yo! And uh… one more thing …" His face faltered for a second, as if he already knew the answer, but then regained his beam.
"Well, go on then, tell me what it is." I didn't mean to sound rude, but I was the kind of person who didn't like long pauses.
"… Is it okay if you pay, yo?"
To be honest with you, I wasn't really surprised he asked that, but offended all the same.
"You ask me on a date and then ask me to pay? What kind of logic is that? Only an American would ask something so absurd like that … You can't just … I thought I'd taught you better … I-"
My ranting was stopped as soon as his lips met mine.
"Ssshhhh … " He whispered as he moved away, smiling tenderly, his arms still around my waist.
"W-what… I … uh… What?" Stumbling over my words was something I couldn't really help at this moment in time.
America winked before hugging me close and whispering in my ear;
"Come on, England. Let's go see that film."
