"I-I ..uh..I'm flushed for you."

Oh.

I was suddenly painfully aware of the space between us, the existence between us, not enough to keep me from touching him, but enough to notice the aching tension in the wall of air and particles and space.

His eyes, yellow tinged with red, were downcast and his fingers played with the sleeves of his sweater. He was chewing on his lip, his cheeks tinged red- the red he so despised him self for.

I took off my shades and set them down on the table beside me. He didn't notice, not until my fingers were gently holding his chin, locking his eyes with mine. "Your eyes..." I watched his eyes widen, his blush deepen. I braced myself for the reaction I had come to expect, fear, disgust. "Are beautiful."

He sounded breathless, as though he was truly entranced by my red eyes, when he himself hated that very color that run through his veins.

I could hardly stand the space now, his skin warm on my fingertips, his eyes dazed and stuck on my own. I moved closer ad his eyes slid closed. My own eyes slid closed as his warm breath tickled my face and I pressed my lips to his.

It felt warm and soft and breathless, and when he pulled away I inhaled deeply.

"I'm flushed for you too Karkat."
