Katniss Everdeen

She runs through the woods panting like a thirsty wolf running from the pack she has been dropped in the middle of, she was never truly one of them. Katniss stops and rests her aching back against the rough bark of the tree trunk, she knew she was well out of sight and would be safe for a few moments. Even though she knows they are well behind her she pokes her head from around the tree both sides multiple times making sure nobody is close. She's safe. She slides the backpack off her back and down in front of her, before unzipping the it and pulling out a bottle with a few drops of water in. Slowly, she dips her water trying to make it last. It only lasts a few seconds before the plain water is consumed. To her the taste is sweet like honey and chocolate, but it is only water.

Footsteps pound, closer, closer, closer. Dried branches and rotten leaves snap, break and crunch underneath the heavy footsteps of the pack. Like a monkey she climbs the tree she was leaning against with her heavy bag on her back. Further and further up she climbs. Getting as far up as possible until the branches are too flimsy to hold her weight and the arms of the tree bend and snap beneath her. Leaves flutter from the tree and the wolves reach the base of where she is hiding.

The blonde and largest of the wolf throws a knife at her. It grazes her right arm leaving a small gash that pours more blood than expected. The warm red liquid stains her clothes that is already covered in mud.

Katniss jumps up from lying down, the covers soaked through with sweat. "It was a dream." She murmurs to herself but it didn't make it any better.
