"Shh!" A young Stacey Evans put a finger to her lips and stared angrily at her little brother. "Stop making so much noise!" she finished with a whisper.
"I am not making any noise…" Stevie argued back, dragging a little toy car on the carpet.
"Then who was it?"
"The TV!" Stevie yelled pointing at the screen. Stacey blanched and jumped to cover his mouth.
"I told you! Shh!"
Stevie glared at his sister and forced her hand away from his mouth. He hated when she had to act all big and bossy. Why couldn't she just have fun and play with him? They always got along well, but sometimes she just had to switch into big sister mode and ruin everything. This was why he liked it more when Sam was in charge. At least Sam wasn't mean.
"I don't have to listen to you." He complained, turning to face the television. "Sam and Mercedes are here. They're in charge."
"Yeah," Stacey countered, putting her hands on her hips like a regular diva. "But can't you see that they're sleeping?"
Stevie took his attention off of the cartoon he was watching and towards the couch, where, indeed, Sam and Mercedes had fallen asleep.
Sam had his head back and his feet were propped up on the motel's old footstool. His mouth was wide open, but thankfully, his snoring wasn't too bad. Mercedes sat next to him with her head resting on his chest, her arms wrapped securely around his waist. She looked completely comfortable, as if this was something they had been doing for years. The faintest of smiles danced across her lips as she snuggled closer to him in her sleep.
"See?" Stacey said, I-told-you-so written all over her expression.
Stevie didn't say anything as he stared at his older brother.
"Why are they sleeping like that? All close together."
"Can't you tell? They're in looooove!" Stacey squeaked and spun around dramatically, before she realized how loud she was and covered her own mouth. She had watched enough Disney princess movies in her time to know what true love looked like. Well that, and she had taken an absolute liking to Mercedes, so she was not going to let Mercedes go. Having the both of them be in love was an easy way to make Mercedes stick around longer. She cleared her throat and whispered in a quiet voice. "So you can't wake them up, got it?"
Stevie rolled his eyes.
"Whatever." He turned around and went back to his toy and cartoons. He shook his head as Stacey walked away, quietly humming a dreamy song with her hands clasped together. "Girls are so weird…"
I have no clue where this came from, but it was floating around in the back of my mind for days, and I just had to type it out. This really doesn't have anything to do with my current Samcedes fic, but if you want, think of it as a background scene that I never put in! :)
But anyway, I love Stacey and Stevie, and I thought this would be cute to share! Hope you enjoyed!
