Sane – xVampirexBunnyx – One-shot – End of the Ego Series.

Hermione and Draco don't think they're insane.

Hermione walked into the Great Hall with her head held high and her hand held in Draco's. This was it, their friends finding out about their relationship, at least anyone who wasn't Blaise, Fred or George.

A collective gasp echoed around the Hall, but Draco either didn't notice or ignored it. "I suppose you want to sit at the Gryffindor table?" he asked softly and all Hermione could do was nod in response. Draco smiled and pulled her gently to the table on the far side of the hall.

Out of the corner of her eye Hermione saw Blaise stand up and wink at them before jogging over and hugging Hermione. Fred and George, never two to be outdone, did the same, clapping Draco on the back too. "Come on you three, there's plenty of room at our table," George said, gesturing to five empty seats near Harry, Ron and Ginny.

Quickly gaining confidence Hermione grinned and sat down next to Harry. "Morning," she chirped brightly as Draco and George sat down on her left.

Harry and Ron just sat there, dumbstruck, but Ginny smiled. "Morning boys, Hermione."

Draco and Blaise nodded, the latter shooting her a smile and the former meeting her eyes. "Girl-Weasley." Ginny just smiled and explained that her name was Ginny not 'Girl-Weasley' like he apparently thought.

"And if you call me Girl-Weasley again then I will inform your parents about Draco Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing Ferret," the small red-head threatened jokingly. Hermione and Blaise laughed and the twins smiled, warning him that she did a killer bat-bogey hex.

After maybe ten minutes, Harry and Ron regained their speech. "Hermione," Ron choked out, "What the bloody hell do you think you're doing?!"

"Eating," she replied in a confused tone causing the others to burst into peals of laughter. "Other than that I can see nothing that you should have a problem with, after all, your sister and brothers don't."

Blaise grinned at her from beside Fred who was next to Ron. "Way to go Hermione, you tell 'em who's boss," Draco smiled and kissed her cheek.

"They've gone insane," Ron whispered across the table to The-Boy-Who-Lived-And-Had-Yet-To-Speak-A-Word.

Draco and Hermione spoke at the same time, "Gone sane you mean." Oh God, Hermione thought worriedly, Draco's rubbing off on me. Oblivious to her reverie, Draco continued talking. "It is impossible to go insane when one already is," he explained to two confused Gryffindors. "So one must then become sane."

Hermione smiled. Ginny and Blaise were giving each other puppy-dog-eyes when they thought no one was watching and the twins were happily informing Draco about the time they washed Snape's hair with magic in their first year.

All was well… (Yes J K, I went there. That is no way to end a series so look out for the sequel series called Beyond Ego.)
