Molly sat staring at the baby in the bassinette. He was crying, yet she simply continued knitting Charlie's jumper. Arthur picked the baby up and took him into the kitchen. He made him a bottle and fed him. The father sat pondering about his wife, wondering what had happened to her the past two months. When they had found out she was pregnant again they were worried about the budget, it was tight enough and the twins were still very young, but they were happy as they were every other time. Arthur knew that Molly desperately wanted a little girl but he didn't think that she would be this upset about having Ron.
Arthur sat the baby up to burp and he sat himself up, the young boy holding his own head up. "Well you're just a strong one, aren't you?" he smiled. The baby stared at him with big blue eyes until he let out a large belch. Arthur chuckled. "Bill would be proud." He commented.
"Proud of what?" Molly questioned, coming into the room to watch him better.
"Ronald's burping ability." Arthur said shortly. He stood up and cradled the baby close. "I'm going to change his diaper."
Molly nodded, staring at the baby again. Arthur shook his head. It amused him that she would sit and stare at the baby but wouldn't go anywhere near him. Honestly for the first time in their marriage, Arthur was afraid to leave Molly alone with their child. He was worried about what would happen the next week when his paternity leave was over.
When Arthur got to Ron's nursery, he laid the baby down to change him. "Can I help, daddy?" Percy questioned. Arthur smiled and let Percy climb up to help him change Ron's diaper. "Daddy? Why aren't we supposed to love Ronnie?"
"You are supposed to love him, Percy. Who said you weren't?" Arthur questioned curiously.
"Bill said since Mummy doesn't love him we aren't supposed to either."
Arthur opened his mouth but hesitated. "I do love Ron and you all should love your brother too." Molly's voice sounded from behind them.
Arthur and Percy both turned to look at her startled. "Yes, mummy." Percy answered politely.
"Perc, why don't you go tell your brothers." Arthur let Percy down and he left the room.
Molly came up behind her husband and wrapped her arms around him. "I'm sorry."
"Molly, I've been trying to understand and be supportive but you have to be a mother to him, despite the fact that you wanted a girl."
"I know." Molly whispered. "I don't know what's wrong with me." She whimpered. "I want to love him and hold him and be there for him but something stops me."
Arthur lifted Ron up and held him out to her. "Do it then. Don't let anything stop you."
Molly hesitantly took the baby from him and held him close. Ron's tiny face scrunched up and he whimpered at the unrecognized person holding him. His mother kissed his head and cuddled him against her, bouncing him gently.
Arthur watched them, his heart melted at the sight, and for once felt comfortable with the thought of leaving Molly with their son.
