Note: While the characters are mine, Silent Hill and fog aren't.
This is my first Silent Hill ff and the first fiction I written in quite some time. I actually like it! The rest is being cleaned up and will be posted soon.

My fiancé, David, and I decided to go on a little pre-wedding anniversary the year before our scheduled nuptials. To satisfy David's fantasies of having sex in public, we went camping for a few nights. We went to a park each night on the way to Silent Hill, where we planned to stay at the four-star hotel overlooking the lake. We'd never been to Silent Hill ourselves, but our friends raved about it. 'When you're there,' one said, 'it's like the rest of the world doesn't exist.'
With the camping behind us and Silent Hill and a real shower as our destination, I leafed through a pamphlet.
'How much time do you want to spend at the amusement park?' I asked.
'Dunno,' David answered. 'We have to ride the Ferris wheel at least. That will give us a great view of the lake.'
'We definitely have to take a little boat out on the lake.'
'Maybe find a secluded spot in the wild.'
'Shut-up!'
I laughed and looked over at him. His blue eyes smiled at me. God, I loved him so much. It was so hard to believe the problems we were having just a year before.
I eventually got bored with the Silent Hill brochure and began to doodle around the edges of it. 'Mrs. Sarah Thomas,' I said as I wrote it and drew a heart around it. 'A year from tomorrow I'll be Mrs. Sarah Thomas.'
David looked over at what I was doing. 'That's so childish.'
'Well, if being excited about marrying you is childish, maybe I should reconsider.'
'Oh, no. You're going to marry me no matter what.'
'No matter how—naughty—I've been?'
'You know I like you naughty.'
I laughed along with our silly banter. I hoped my laughter hid my fear enough, as I could never fool myself into believing in unconditional love.
I stood looking down in horror and disgust, but could not bring myself to look away. The face was watching me from the water. Silently accusing. No one but it knew the terrible thing I had done.
'Damn! Oh shit! Come one!'
David's cursing woke me from my nap. The car was smoking and lurching as he pulled over.
'What is it?'
'The car's overheating.' He parked and slammed his palms on the steering wheel.
I looked out at the foggy night. We must be near to the lake. 'How far out are we?'
'A bit less than ten miles from town. The hotel is on the other side of the lake.'
'Might as well camp out for another night, huh?'
'Looks that way.'
I sighed, mourning the loss of my shower. At least I wouldn't have that nightmare again. I'd never had it twice in a single night.
We quickly pitched the tent and settled down for bed. In the morning we'd get up, pack our stuff, and walk to town for a tow. The whole thing was very inconvenient, but a little adventure at the same time.
I hadn't slept long when I woke shivering. Though it was summer I could see my breath. I sat up and immediately noticed David was gone.
My teeth chattered as I rummaged through our suitcase. The only long sleeved clothing we had was David's dress shirt. I buttoned it up, slipped on my shoes, and left the tent.
White flakes gently falling from the sky greeted me. Snow? In June? What the hell? It wasn't coming down very hard and they were melting upon reaching the ground.
I shook my head and cupped a hand to my mouth. 'David!' I called. Maybe he'd gone to the car for a blanket.
I ran the short distance to the road where we'd left it.
Panic gripped me. The car was gone!
What was going on here? The car couldn't run! Why would David leave without me?
Because he hates you.
I pushed the thought out of my mind. I wanted to stay outside and watch for David, but it was too cold. At least the tent and sleeping bag would give me some protection. What else could I do but wait?
