The time is the year of 20XX. In the town of Namimori we don't see the bright and inviting tone that was once emitted. The clouds are a dark grey and day after day they continue to blot out the sun. All sense of government in the world is gone, and the mafia has risen out of the shadows of society to lead the people in these dark times. The once prosperous Namimori is now run by Robert Goldriggo who rules with greed. The Goldriggo family torment the people; taking their money, resources, and while only offering a false sense of protection.

It has been a long time since it was the era of Vongola Decimo and his guardians. In this new desolate era, a new hope will be reborn, taking the world to a better future. Our story begins in this familiar town where in a small rundown home, lives a young boy: Koruto aka "Colt". His mother, Aki, cradles him in bed as she finishes telling him a story of the past.

"Finally Tsuna gave up the life of being a Vongola Boss to retire at the age of 40. Since he was in power he finally could let the name of Vongola go into the annals of history. He used his money and power to help those in need. He protected the ones he loved but only when he absolutely had to he would call back his friends and guardians to protect the world. He sealed away the rings hidden around the world, so no one could find them and Tsuna spent the rest of his days in peace."

The boy's brown eyes widen with fascination as his mother finishes the stories of the brave Vongola boss. Listening to his mother's stories every night was the only thing that made life still enjoyable, sadly. The pair continues to lie down on the bed together as Colt slowly starts to fall asleep in his Aki's arms. A loud screech, maybe from a woman pierces through the window. He jolts awake as the sound, from the streets outside, enters his eardrums. Aki quickly pulls the child close to comfort him.

"Colt, are you okay?"

The boy nods slowly, Aki runs her frail hands through Colt's short brown wavy hair. He relaxes and curls up closer to his mother. She smiles as he begins to fall asleep, peering over at a small picture frame that was poorly lit by the candle that did its best to illuminate the room. It showed the two of them with many more people smiling happily. It was their family, from before all of the chaos.

"I miss them…This isn't fair…." Colt begins softly. "Mother, how did the world end up like this?"

Aki begins to speak but pauses as she coughs lightly. His eyes begin to water and his mouth goes wry as he hears the discomfort in her chest. Colt knows she had been sick for a while but never talked about it, sickness has claimed a lot of their family members' lives. The symptoms show: her skin was starting to pale and her brown hair was slowly turning white. The coughing fits have gotten so bad; blood would be pulled from her insides. The weight on her body was scarce as she would always choose to feed him instead of herself. Aki sighs and pulls the covers over them to keep warm.

"The Vongola disappeared 20 years ago, Leaving unbalance in the Mafia hierarchy. Some corrupt families even worse than the Goldriggo came into power and started fighting each other for power. The disputes between the families eventually poured into politics, state and government affairs, countries, even continents. There was a war, it was inevitable."

Aki suddenly starts to cough again, but this time viscously causing the boy to jump straight off the bed panicking. He quickly goes to help by rubbing her back and patting the best he could softly. She begins to take loud shorter breaths, gasping for air.

"Colt! Quick water please." She cries as she points down the hall.

Colt dashes out of the room quickly to find the bucket of fresh boiled rain water they keep in the kitchen. He picks up the pail carefully as he dashes back down the hall. Aki looks into her hand to find small drops of blood causing her eyes to begin to water. She wipes the tears from her eyes and clams herself before Colt makes it back with the pail.

"I'm here, Mother."

Colt takes a cup from the dresser and gives his mother a glass full. Aki takes a deep breath as she relaxes after taking a good gulp. The mother sighs and rolls her head towards the window, staring at dreary scene. Her face softens as she begins watching the rain fall out of the cloudy skies. Once again she feverishly continues to tell the story.

"Mafia families from around the world searched for the Vongola rings, selfishly they sought to gain power and restore order to the land. No one knows if they were ever found or not but, the complete set should never fall into the wrong hands…." She begins to fade.

"I would have never gotten rid of the rings, If I were boss…" He mumbles under his breath.

Colt notices his mother's head beginning to slump to the side and quickly checks her temperature. Her head burns to the touch, he had to do something to prevent her condition from becoming worse. The young boy frantically wets a clean rag and wrings it out. The boy places the rag on her head to try and soothe her.

"Colt, I have to tell you something." she says as she comes through.

Aki lifts herself to sit upright on the bed. She takes Colt in her arms as she begins to comfort him. He tries to pull back but couldn't get away from her warm embrace. The room falls silent as he begins to weep.

"You are 13 now, you are basically a young man, so I must be honest with you. You know, I've been sick for a while now."

Colt stands up to interrupt her but the lady puts a finger to her mouth before he could say anything. He shuts his eyes, and hangs his head as she continues.

"I am going to die. Before I go, I want you to know that I love you and that I'm going to a better place. I'm going to join them and one day I can't wait to see you again…..Promise me, you will live Koruto?" Aki pleads.

In response Colt nods solemnly, mother never called him that unless she is absolutely serious about something. Deep inside he knew for a long time their lives together were going to end soon. Doctors didn't reside in the area anymore and medicine is sold at prices, to high, that they can't afford. Colt kneels down beside her once more, placing his head on her lap.

"Tell me another story mother, please?" Colt begs.

"Sure baby."

Aki takes the boy and lets him lay next to her on the bed. Colt continues to cry himself to sleep as Mother begins another story of Colt's hero: Sawada Tsunayoshi.

"Did I ever tell you about the time the young Vongola traveled to the future? Oh it's a marvelous tale. It all began when…." Aki begins.

Aki's voice slowly starts to fade away from Colt's ears as he finally falls asleep.

When Colt awakes his mother had already passed, her eyes closed but a smiling face looking down at him. He knows that he should be happy that she passed peacefully. The boy says a silent prayer to himself as he kneels over the bed, giving thanks for the years that he was blessed to have her in his life. When Colt opens his eyes he feels an unfamiliar pull around his neck.

"What is that?"

Colt reaches his hand behind his neck to feel a chain necklace, attached is a ring wrapped in a small chain itself. He stares for moments at the ring, not even ready to think about what it was.

"This necklace must be a gift from Mother…. I vow to protect it." Colt thinks to himself.

Colt heavy sighs and lets the ring sink behind his undershirt. He works up the energy to get up and prepare for his mother's funeral. He reaches into the closet to retrieve his best and only suit which he had worn to many funerals before this one. He looks into the mirror solemnly as he fixes himself into his clothes.

"I guess it is time." Colt sighs.

He struggles to carry his mother out of the room and into the backyard. Colt scopes his backyard and sees the many graves of the family he had loss in previous years. He holds a funeral by himself and buries her behind their home. Now his mother is going to join them and rest in peace. He claps his hands together and prays for guidance from his family and ancestors.
