I've
paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But
committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've
had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through
Massie
looked at her former friends from the corner of her eye. They seemed
to be enjoying themselves. She sighed. She only had Claire. But she
would bounce back. She would start right now by forming the New New
Pretty Committee, or the NNPC. First candidate: Saylene Homer. Massie
sauntered over to Saylene's table.
We
are the alphas - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the
end -
We are the alphas -
We are the alphas
No time for
losers
'Cause we are the alphas - of the world –
Being
on top again felt refreshing to Massie. She had her Lexus, her Prada
bags and shoes, her RL and DKNY wardrobe. She was back and better
than ever, and just in time for senior year. I've
taken my bows I thank you all –
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and
fortune and everything that goes with it
Massie walked carefully up to the podium to accept the valedictorian mantle and make her speech.
"I
thank you all for this award, but the people I really owe it to are
my friends-Claire Lyons, Saylene Homer, Marie Cullen, and Amber
Wilkinson. But most of all, I'd like to thank the people who
dragged me down-Alicia Rivera, Kristen Gregory, and Dylan Marvil. If
I hadn't realized I was above them, I would never have broken free
of their bonds. Thanks, guys." But
it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it
a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose
–
She
wasn't going to lose. Not now. She had been competing with Alicia
Rivera for the alpha throne for years, and now it was in sight. She
could be president. Massie would put all of her energy into making it
happen. We are the alphas - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
- till the end -
We are the alphas -
We are the alphas
No
time for losers
'Cause we are the alphas - of the world –
"Yep-we are the alphas. Or at least Massie is." Claire said.
