The Hobbits Memory

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters / places mentioned in my poem below.

Far in the land of Shire

A hobbit sadly weeps

Of times when elves once ruled the land

And orcs did uneasily creep.

Those were times of adventure

Of power, friendship, love.

The voyage of the Fellowship

To a land high above.

He remembers each indelible moment

From the beginning to the end.

He remembers most the moment

With his other hobbit friend.

This hobbits name was Frodo

Who was Sam's companion all along

And he remembers this hobbit dearly

That's why he sings this song.

In this nine man fellowship

Frodo was the king

Not only of his best lads

But also of a ring.

This ring was made in Mordor

Where fires burn ever so high

Where mountains of lava loom

Up in the charcoal sky.

Other rings were made moreover

Each for an important race

But this one ring was created

To rule them all in disgrace.

Three were given to the elven lords,

Seven to the dwarves of Thor

Nine to the race of man

Who wanted power and nothing more.

The ring was made apart from the rest

For one purpose and not one more

To have power over all Middle Earth

As it slowly claimed its war.

"Thus this ring must be destroyed,"

Quoted Gandalf long ago

"It must be sent back to the place it was made"

And the adventure began as so.

Frodo was the mighty ring bearer

And I was his servant, Sam Gamgee

Together we traveled through thick and thin

Further than the eye can see.

Not only did we destroy The Ring

But we created a friendship too

A bond so strong and powerful

It has never been known to you.

To this day I remember the time

When elves once ruled the earth.

The Fellowship had come to a halt

And the journey was all the worth.
