Turn Me Around

Edmund looked at the ground. He knew what he had deserves death. He couldn't bear to look at Aslan; he just couldn't! Then he heard a golden voice saying, "Son of Adam, look at Me." He did, slowly. The intense love he saw in those eyes made him instantly hang his head again. "Why are you ashamed, child?"

"I don't deserve anything but death, Aslan. I- I'm a traitor!"

"Yes, you are, but that doesn't mean you have to stay that way. I can change you, if you will let Me."

"Aslan, help me." Edmund pleaded. "I do want to change! I do!"

Aslan breathed on him. "Then you shall."

From below, a shout was heard. "Edmund!" Upon hearing Lucy's voice, he turned to see his siblings. "They are waiting for you, Son of Adam."

"I'm afraid."

"Of what?"

"I'm afraid that they will hate me for what I did."

"Why don't you let them answer that? But, know this. No matter where you go or what you do, I will always love you."

It was the 2nd year of the Golden Age of Narnia. Edmund still hadn't forgotten what Aslan had done for him. He tried not to show it, but he couldn't forgive himself.

And here he was, the Just King, in control of the courts and of justice, and he had been a traitor. If that wasn't hypocrisy, nothing was. Still, Edmund remembered that conversation with Aslan.

He thanked Aslan for His grace every day.

Edmund was afraid when they left Narnia to return to England. He was afraid that without a visual reminder, he would slip back into his old ways. But, every time this entered his head, he heard Aslan's voice say, "My grace is sufficient for you."
