I Just Called

A Spike and Molly Story

/ I just called to say I love you

And I mean it from the bottom of my heart /

Spike nervously played the metal buttons on the payphone. It sent chills up his spine. He didn't mind, since half his body burned from being tied up in the ropes. But what hurt the most was his heart. How could he let Molly, the girl he loved, go through a table?

I'd never live with myself if she got hurt, Spike thought. He really couldn't live with himself now. He took a deep breath and dialed the hospital's number, saying the digits aloud as he pressed each button.

"Hospital?"

"Yes, may I speak to Miss Molly Holly?"

"One moment please. Who is calling?"

"Mr. Spike Dudley."

Spike drummed his fingers around the frame of the phone. He heard some muffled voices and a click. Then he heard a very familiar voice come on. One that he was very happy to hear.

"Hello?"

"H-Hi, Molly?"

"Yes, this is Molly."

"It's Spike…"

"Spike! Hi! Are you okay?"

"I-I am fine… Are YOU okay, Molly? You're the one I care about."

"I am fine… Just a little neck pain."

Spike clenched his fists. Those bastards, he thought miserably.

"Molly, I want you know… That I called to say I love you. I really do love you."

"Oh, Spike, you're making me blush."

"You mean the world to me. I live to see you smile."

"Oh, Spike… Thank you. But I am nothing special."

"Yes you are. When are you going to realize that you are so precious to me?"

"Spike, you are so wonderful."

"No, Molly, you are wonderful."

"Spike-"

CLICK! Spike's quarter ran out.

Molly sighed on the other end of the phone. "I love you," She said to the air.
