Since a long time ago skylarks were known for their songs. These proud birds were sought after… leading to the types:

1. The fortunate ones living in the wild, singing as they wished.
2. The caged ones who gave up trying to escape and willing pleased his master
3. The prisoned ones who refused to sing

Just like how there are three types of Alauda arvensis, there are also three types of masters:

1. If the birds won't sing, I'll kill it.
2. If the birds won't sing, I'll try to make it sing.
3. If the birds won't sing, I'll wait for it to sing.

Located in Japan, a few centuries ago, lived one such unfortunate bird. And this is where the tale begins.

Well so a few notes about this. I got the idea from the '3 types of masters' it's actually an old Japanese myth during the warlord period. Each of the numbers represent a warlord during that time: 1) Oda Nobunaga 2) Toyotomi Hideyoshi 3) Tokugawa Ieyasu. So basically, as you can see, it is an AU fiction set in 'ancient' Japan surrounding our well known 'skylark'. This is the prelude to the series: Skylark's Song. The skylark song will include 1 prequel and 3 oneshots each using an aspect of the quote. hope you enjoy it XD
