Walking In
Chapter 1
James Potter was walking down the corridors from Potions. He was mumbling about his grades. "Giving me an F just because the potion was a little runny. So what? Lucius nearly made his potion explode and he got 20 points for Slytherin! I'd like to-"
Someone calling his name interrupted him from his threat. "Hey James!" James turned. Remus Lupin was running toward James. "What?" James asked. "I wanted to talk to you about Snape. He wasn't in Potions."
James didn't exactly care where Severus Snape was. He could have been dead for all James cared. "Big deal. He's probably sick."
Remus wasn't convinced. "No. I saw him earlier today." James nearly burst out laughing. "I feel so sorry for you!"
Remus had one big fault. He got annoyed quickly when someone didn't care about what he had to say. "My point is he must be with a teacher. What for?"
James got a little more interested at these words. "So you want to see who he's with and why? Oh that's brilliant, Remus! Get Sirius and Peter. I'll start with Dumbledore."
Remus nodded and walked away to look for Sirius and Peter.
James didn't care if he missed class. This was much better than any class. If Snape got into trouble, James wanted to see what for. New and juicy gossip! Thought James.
He walked down to Dumbledore's office with an evil grin on his face. He pressed his ear to the door just in time to hear:
"-gone back to Voldemort, Headmaster." It was Snape's voice.
"Alright, Severus. People around you seemed suspicious of which side you were on." This was Dumbledore's voice.
James's grin faded. The other Marauders came up next to him. They got the idea and pressed their ears to the door like James.
"Is that all you wanted me for, Headmaster?"
"Yes you may go, Severus." The door opened and Severus stepped out of the Headmaster's office and right into James. "What the-? How long were you there?" There was a diffident note of panic in Snape's voice.
"Long enough," said James as he and his friends walked away to their next class. Severus stood there for a moment before he walked away, cursing himself.
