This is a one shot, I needed a break from my main story since I have hit a little bit of a wall, but should have a chapter out soon enough. This is a bit random and rambling, but it felt like it needed to be put down.

Letter

The rain was falling heavily on the twilight hour of Scoriae, but she didn't care. The thunderstorm had come seemingly out of no where on what had previously been a cloudless evening. The Princess Boa was standing out on the balcony that adjoined with her room. In her held she held the reason for the tears that were gently rolling down her cheeks before blending with the down pour. The letter she was holding had had a thorough soaking by now, but the words that had been written were to stay in her mind forever.

Several months before, Christopher Carrion had begun sending letters to the princess. She had at first expressed a mild interest in the man, knowing the rumours that the Carrion family held. After meeting the man of her dreams, she had politely expressed that she no longer wished to have him send anything more. This didn't sway him, and eventually Boa's annoyance turned to anger. She wished that he would just leave her alone, so she could pay attention to the preparations of her marriage . With each unwanted letter sent, he tried more desperately to catch hold of her heart, like someone trying to catch smoke with their bare hands. She would always slip away from his grip.

After some time, something snapped, she had enough. The last letter she had sent to him did not let him off easy, it expressed her opinions in a way that would make him understand, leaving behind it's usual vague language. She only realised now how dangerous this was to her. The letter was the last she would receive form him, as she was leaving for the nonce tomorrow, and the wedding was the day after that. Initially, she was filled with relief that this was to be the last of his sending, but that had quickly changed upon opening. The letter laid out all the venom Christopher Carrion could surely put down on paper, it contained the threat of death., one she knew he would make good on sooner or later.

She could have informed her father, doubled up security or post-pone the wedding, but what good could that do? The Carrions dealt out death as skilfully as dealers dealt out cards. Princess Boa knew that she would have to trust her life to her new husband, he could keep her safe. She could only hope luck would be on her side, she had done nothing to deserve death just when her new life was to begin. She should be happy. Just then, her most trusted maid came into her bedroom and caught her standing out in the rain. "Princess!" the maid wailed." What are you doing out in the storm? Come in quickly, you're absolutely soaked! You'll catch your death before you're married!" The princess was reluctant to come in, swiftly wiping her tears away and tossing the unreadable letter into the darkest night Scoriae was ever to see: For she knew, that she wouldn't catch death, death would catch her.
