Killjoy (One-shot)
Envy x reader
"You're so annoying, dumbass", Envy repeated, faking a stabbing motion with his right hand. "You almost killed an important human sacrifice!" By this time you were chuckling softly, a hand held in front of your mouth. "Don't you understand?! What were you going to do if you screwed up the plan? Huh?!"
Really not noticing when you had started laughing, you couldn't stop. It was just too amusing. And vaguely attractive. "Envy", you said, suppressing further mirth to look at the smug-faced youth. "Impressed?"
"You're attractive." There, his jaw dropped. Laughing again, you stumbled to where he was standing and tried to stop, your hand resting on his shoulder. Eventually you did stop, and your stomach was aching. "You're joking", he finally concluded. Not noticing he hadn't said a word you made a questioning noise. His face turned dark, "You were joking, just to make me feel miserable. It's not funny...I already know noone cares (y/n). That Fullmetal runt told me himself, that was what..."
Now you really were confused, you hadn't been joking entirely. You just thought an abrupt statement like that might have a funny reaction. The last thing you wanted to do was upset him. Moving to stand in front of him, you put both palms on his downcast cheeks. Raising them slightly, you actually thought you saw tears. "Ne, Envy, I wasn't joking. I really do think so", you spoke softly, watching the tears escape his eyes. Feeling their prick behind you own, you hugged him close. "I didn't mean for you to think that, I really care." He pulled you back to look at your face with a slight smile. Something that brightened his features like no sadistic smile ever could. "You really care?"
Hesitating to admit it momentarily, you decided that it would be better for him to reject you when it wouldn't hurt him. "I really care. I love you Envy."
You had never seen his purple eyes glow so bright. It was like someone had lit a torch inside them. Tilting his head downwards, he kissed you briefly and pulled away, cheeks tinged. Somehow feeling like mischief you retorted, "Still is funny how you like torturing humans with the same attachment."
"Shut up."
"Can I come next time?"
"For sure", even if he was a good-guy now, he would still be the same on the inside. And that's another thing you liked about him, he didn't think he had to change for anyone. Standing there, with his arms around your waist and your own against his chest, something didn't feel wrong anymore. You didn't feel the way you had been, you felt right.
Suddenly feeling the urge, you began to sing. Softly, letting the words of an old song slip from your tongue like rain. Envy hummed against you and, not releasing you, sat you down with him, against the wall. Hardly noticing, you went on. The final syllables faded out softly, barely more than whispers. The dark haired boy smiled, "I never have to be envious of humans again, I have you now." Sighing quietly, you let him play with you hair a while, just sitting there was enough. "What's your greatest joy?"
"Besides this?"
Feeling your lips curve into a smile you nodded, looking up, "Besides this."
"The joy of killing someone, disguised as the one they love."
"Killjoy." And there it was, the sound of his laughter, interlaced with yours.
