My back was facing a steep, rocky overhang. My fingers grasped tightly on the hilt of the dagger. Ok im going to make sure im not dreaming, I pinched myself hard on the top of my hand. "Ow!" I muttered. I'm not dreaming that's for sure. A chimera, with it's three heads all turned on me, started to advance. I felt my hands tingling and my heart was beating out of my chest. My satyr died while trying to save me. He was bitten by the slithering snake tail of the chimera I was facing. This was all too new for me. One day I'm leading a normal life, then the next i'm fighting a hybrid monster from my worst nightmares. I wonder if my father is worried, I could die right here... I never got to say good bye. I felt warm tears forming in my eyes, the droplets of water rolled down my cheek and slid off. I felt a sudden surge of anger wave across me. I drew back my hand, flinging it forward feeling the hilt of the dagger slip through my fingertips. The blade sunk itself deeply into the heart of the chimera, leaving it a mear pile of dust. All of a sudden, the dust was drawing back together and reforming into the gastly beast. It came charging at me full force. There was no time to react, the lion head at the front slashed at me across my chest. The exertion knocked me backwards. The river below me seemed to be pulling at me. Of course I knew it was only gravity. I heard whistling in my ear as I sped towards the icy river below. A torrent of tears moistening my face.
